From the Pastor Finally some summer type weather! With our school closed for the summer, more of our attention can shift to the maintenance and repair of our buildings and property, which occupies most of the summer months. 4 Pope Tweets @Pontifex Cambridge, MA Please make the effort to join us (or others at a summer vacation location) for the celebration of Mass on the weekends. Certainly, one hour a week is not too much to invest in the maintaining of a strong, vibrant, fulfilling faith life. One thought: If you are traveling it is always best to call the local church and check on Mass times. Old copies of Mass schedules abound on the internet and they are not always current! We still have people showing up occasionally thinking we have a noon Mass. Please know that for the months of July and August the Parish Office hours will be Monday Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lastly, please remember that we need your financial support through the summer months so that we can maintain all that happens here at the parish. Perhaps you would consider E-giving. It s easy to sign up. Follow the prompts on our web page (saintpetercambridge.org) or call Mary Ann at the office for more information. Thank you. Cor Unum Volunteer Opportunities This summer, thousands of people are coming to eat. Please lend a hand! When the temperature starts heating up, so does our demand for service volunteers. At the Cor Unum Meal Center at St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence, tens of thousands of men, women, and children will eat free, nutritious meals this summer. Will you consider volunteering your time through Summer Service 2018 at Cor Unum? Go to our website, corunummealcenter.org, and click on the button to fill out an application, or call 978-688-8900. Children age 11 and older may volunteer along with a parent. Teens 14 and older may volunteer independently. All who volunteer between July 1 and September 3 are entered into a drawing for our Summer Volunteer Prize of a $500 Visa gift card. For more information, go to our website and click on the Summer Prize button. Franciscan Spiritual Direction Certification Program Have you ever felt a call to help others by offering Spiritual Guidance? There is an opportunity at the St. Anthony Shrine and Ministry Center to get the training needed to take on this beautiful responsibility, which can bring such joy to others. For an application or further information, please contact Carol Mitchell, Program Director Franciscan Spiritual Direction Certification Program St. Anthony Shrine & Ministry Center, 100 Arch Street, Boston MA 02110, 727-492-8315, or calmitch@gmail.com RCIA: Do you Want to Know More About the Catholic Faith? Perhaps you have been worshiping with us, but have never taken steps to become Catholic or perhaps you have joined us from a different denomination but are now being called to the Catholic Church. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process through which non-baptized individuals or those baptized in another denomination become members of the Catholic Church. This process is also available to someone who may have been baptized Catholic but has not received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation. To learn more about the RCIA program please contact Anna Molettieri at 617-547- 4235 x117 or amolettieri@saintpetercambridge.org. Children must be able to play, study and grow in a peaceful environment. Woe to anyone who stifles their joyful impulse to hope! June 12, 2018 Let us share the journey of refugees and migrants with concrete gestures of solidarity. June 17, 2018

We Need You to Bring the Eucharist to Our Neighbors Who Are Homebound Our parish needs you to bring communion to people who are homebound. Please consider volunteering! Harvard Square Churches Meal Program For the past 6 years St Peter Parish has been helping to provide volunteers to the Harvard Square Meals Program each Thursday during the summer months. The program serves a nutritious sit down dinner to over 100 guests at Christ Church, 0 Garden Street. They rely on college students for volunteers. Our parish has been able to provide assistance during the summer and on school breaks. The volunteer time slots will be 2-4:00 p.m. If you have any questions or would like to sign up for a week or two, please contact Anna Molettieri at amolettieri@saintpetercambridge.org or 617-547- 4235 x117. Groome, STM professor of theology and religious education; and Jane E. Regan, STM associate professor of theology and religious education and chair, Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry. As part of STM's 10th Anniversary celebration, join us for a light supper and consider how the work of the Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry has influenced and continues to shape the Church's tradition of handing on the faith. Beyond Its Use-By Date? Pondering the Future of Faith Saturday, July 14, 10:00-11:45 a.m. Presenter: Rev. Richard Lennan, STM professor of systematic theology. The future of faith and the prospects of the Church can seem bleak. Is there room for hope? If so, what shape would hope take? This lecture explores a hope for the future that holds together trust in God, self-criticism, and openness to the unexpected. Both events are free.
