Sermon Outline The ABC s of Financial Freedom...part 2: Attitude pt2 Attitude Bondage Choices and Decisions Tom Gardner, A steward is someone who has been entrusted with the resources of another. "Stewardship is using God-given abilities, to manage God-given resources, to accomplish Godordained results. God owns everything Psalm 24:1 (NIV), The earth is the Lord s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it. Psalm 50:10-11 (CEV), Every animal in the forest belongs to me, and so do the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds in the mountains, and every wild creature is in my care. 1 Chronicles 29:11 (NLT), Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. There s no security in wealth Ecclesiastes 5:10-15 (NLT), Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers! People who work hard sleep well, whether they eat little or much. But the rich seldom get a good night s sleep. There is another serious problem I have seen under the sun. Hoarding riches harms the saver. Money is put into risky investments that turn sour, and everything is lost. In the end, there is nothing left to pass on to one s children. Money and wealth will never satisfy Money and wealth can be easily lost Proverbs 23:4-5 (MSG), Don t wear yourself out trying to get rich; restrain yourself! Riches disappear in the blink of an eye; wealth sprouts wings and flies off into the wild blue yonder.
Sermon Outline Ecclesiastes 5:15, We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can t take our riches with us. Job 1:21 (NLT), I came naked from my mother s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord! Luke 12:13 (MSG), Someone out of the crowd said, Teacher, order my brother to give me a fair share of the family inheritance. Luke 12:14 (MSG), He replied, Mister, what makes you think it s any of my business to be a judge or mediator for you? Luke 12:15 (MSG), Speaking to the people, he went on, Take care! Protect yourself against the least bit of greed. Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot. Proverbs 21:26 (NLT), Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give! Luke 12: 16-19, Then he told them this story: The farm of a certain rich man produced a terrific crop. He talked to himself: What can I do? My barn isn t big enough for this harvest. Then he said, Here s what I ll do: I ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I ll gather in all my grain and goods, and I ll say to myself, Self, you ve done well! You ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life! Andy Stanley, People with greed lodged in their heart fear that God either can t or won t take care of them. Luke 12:20-21, Just then God showed up and said, Fool! Tonight you die. And your barnful of goods who gets it? That s what happens when you fill your barn with Self and not with God. Psalm 14:1 (CEV), Only a fool would say, There is no God! People like that are worthless; they are heartless and cruel and never do right. Jim Elliot, He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose. Reflection Luke 12:32-34 (NCV), Don t fear, little flock, because your Father wants to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Get for yourselves purses that will not wear out, the treasure in heaven that never runs out, where thieves can t steal and moths can t destroy. Your heart will be where your treasure is.
