The Messenger St. Peter Lutheran Church March 2019 From the Interim Pastor.. The coming Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday on March 6 th. The theme for the Lenten services at St. Peter this year will focus on discipleship beginning with the Beatitudes found in Matthew on Wednesday, March 6 th at 7pm in the sanctuary. The following Lenten services will also be at 7pm but in the Fellowship Hall and the theme for each service will be as follows and taken from Matthew chapters 5-7; March 13 Jesus disciples and scripture March 20 Spiritual practices of the disciples March 27 Devotion to God (part 1) April 3 Devotion to God (part 2) April 10 God's will be done During Holy week before Easter we will observe the Maundy Thursday Service on April 18 at 7pm in the sanctuary. This service will focus on Holy Communion and healing. The Good Friday Service on April 19 will focus on Jesus death. On Easter morning April 21st we will host services at 7am and 10am with breakfast in between and the focus is on the promise of new life which is given to each of us. The churches in Delphos will also host community services each Thursday noon at Trinity United Methodist church. These services will begin at noon followed by lunch. The schedule and theme for these community Lenten services are as follows; March 7 The Road to Damascus March 14 The Road to Wilderness March 21 The Road Home March 28 The Road to Jerusalem April 4 The Road to Jericho (St. Peter Lutheran hosts this service) April 11 The Bethany Road April 19 (Good Friday) The Road to Calvary (there is no meal at this service) The season of Lent is made up of the 40 days before Easter and this is a time to follow Jesus to the cross, his death, and his resurrection. Our worship services during this time simply tell the story of what Jesus said and did so that we can see what impact this has had on us. Pastor Steve

The Rose on the Altar was in celebration for the birth of Rhett Daniel, son of Kyle and Samantha Rode. Rhett was welcomed home by big sisters Kayleigh and Olivia. Lenten Schedule will begin Wednesday, March 3 rd at 7 PM. Each of the following Wednesday evenings St. Peter will provide a Lenten worship service at 7:00 pm through April 10 th. Thomas Calvelage, son of Brian and Heidi Calvelage, earned his Eagle Scout Award, which is the highest award that a boy can earn in the Boy Scouts. He celebrated his Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday, February 3 with family, friends and the troop. Thomas is a member of Boy Scout Troop #230, Ft. Jennings. American Red Cross Blood drive will be at Delphos Eagles, 1600 E Fifth St, Delphos, OH Thursday, March 7 th from 10:30AM-4:30PM. Walk-ins are welcome. Or call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) for availability. The Delphos Ministerial Association will once again be hosting Family Promise guests at Trinity United Methodist Church in 2019. We will welcome the guests the weeks of 3/24/19, 6/23/19, and 11/10/19. We are always in need of volunteers to bring a meal (5 pm weekdays, 8am, 12pm, and 5pm on Saturday), provide fellowship (5-8pm on weekdays, Saturday 8a-12pm, 12pm-4pm, and 4pm- 8pm), and spend the night (8pm-6:30am Sun. thru Sat.). We have lost a couple of volunteers due to illness, so we would love to have you! We also accept monetary donations for the cost of food during the weeks that we host. Loss for those Bereaved by Suicide Understanding and coming to terms with suicide can be extremely difficult for family and friends left behind. PASS offers this group to offer an opportunity to share your feeling and experiences with others. Topics discussed will include: the uniqueness of your suicide grief, the six needs of mourning, how to nurture yourself, how to appreciate your transformation and more. Trained facilitators with relevant life experience will lead the group. Participants do not need to reside in Allen, Auglaize or Hardin Counties. Preregistration is encouraged 419-549-38530.
