3 THE SHORTER CATECHISM The purpose of the Shorter Catechism is to educate children in the Reformed Faith. It is based on the Larger Catechism, which was intended for use by ministers as they taught the faith to their congregations in preaching. The Catechism is in a question and answer format. This year the Tear Fund appeal is focussing on child trafficking. This appeal will end on Sunday 17th May. Tear Fund envelopes have been placed in the seats and in the vestibule. Please return your gifts on the offering plate, cheques should be made payable to First Rathfriland, sign the gift aid declaration if you wish Tear Fund to claim tax on your donation. Trip on Saturday 30th May will travel to Hillmount Garden Centre for coffee and then into Belfast for some afternoon shopping. We will end the day with a meal in the Belmont Hotel on our way home. A set of resources for those working with under-5s The resource includes: Articles: these include articles written for our own denominational magazines and those from outside of PCI that we havebeen given permission to share. Teaching options: there are some options for teaching materials for this age group and we want to make sure that you know what those are and how to access them easily. Event plans: we are planning to pilot six different types of event over three years for the under-5s and then to give you everything that your congregation, group of churches or presbytery would need to run similar events in your local area. We will do everything we can to support you in this. Reading material: there are some great books and reading materials out there to help us think about ministry with this age. This section includes reviews of some of these. Please feel free to recommend any books to us that we can include in this section.
