CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 1 There s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus 1 There s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus: None else could heal all our souls diseases: Jesus knows all about our struggles; He will guide til the day is done: There s not a Friend like the lowly Jesus: 2 No friend like Him is so high and holy, And yet no friend is so meek and lowly, 3 There s not an hour that He is not near us, No night so dark, but His love can cheer us, 4 Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him? Or sinner find that He would not take him? 5 Was e er a gift like the Savior given? Will He refuse us the bliss of heaven?
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 2 Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus Lousa, M. R Stead (1882) Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, and to take him at his word; just to rest upon his promise, and to know, Thus saith the Lord. Refrain: Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him! How I ve proved him o er and o er! Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust him more! O how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust his cleansing blood; and in simple faith to plunge me neath the healing, cleansing flood! [Refrain] Yes, tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease; just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace. [Refrain] I m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end.
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 3 When we walk with the Lord John H. Sammis 1887 When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey. Refrain Trust and obey, for there s no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, But our toil He doth richly repay; Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, But is blessed if we trust and obey. Refrain But we never can prove the delights of His love Until all on the altar we lay; For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey. Refrain Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet. Or we ll walk by His side in the way. What He says we will do, where He sends we will go; Never fear, only trust and obey. Refrain

But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. (John 11:10 KJV) Light is important to our lives. We must gain this truth; abide and apply it. In God s priority of His works at creation, notice that God created Light first. The incidence and creation of Light preceded all other works (creation) in God s attempt to bring order to the chaotic disorder upon the earth. God had creating Light as a foremost priority in His effort to create order on the earth that was without form. Accordingly, the Bible says, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (Gen. 1:2-3 KJV). The context of this Scriptures provides great insight into God s approach to solving the problem at hand; He switched on the light on the chaos first; And God saw the light, that it was good (Gen. 1:4 KJV). We must note that not only was the created Light good, Light being the first of God s creation is a necessary good step in attempting to solve the problem. The truth about this notice is well elucidated by Jesus s exhortation to His disciples when He said; if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him highlighting the truth that walking in darkness is obstructive, disruptive and unhelpful. This is so important for everyone to note and understand. Now, about the World where we live, the Bible describes its controlling environment as being dark when it says, See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, (Isaiah 60:2 NIV); this controlling environment is the spiritual influence that o ers everything and everyone on the earth and the notice of this condition is very evident in the deprivation, decimation and decapitation that consumes and constricts over environment and community; it is pitch dark in our World. It is only reasonable as urgent for anyone who (like God) would prioritize his/her need to gain early notice of the foremost need to gain Light ahead of all else. Beloved, we must not be shy, slack or slow about our urgent need for the Light of life. Yes! We need the Light of life to manage Life amidst the spiritual darkness that envelopes our World. Note what Jesus said, if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth; because there is no light in him (John 11:10 KJV); this statement has held true in the spate of stumbling, wobbling and fumbling that characterized people s experience because of lacking light. The Bible says, they know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. (Psalm 82:5 KJV). Everything is wrong because people attempt to walk in darkness; failing and falling are therefore inevitable. But Jesus said; I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:20 KJV) Beloved, the Light of Life is the Word of God; codified and documented in the Bible. He is the Light of Life; the Illumination for our path as we traverse the maze of darkness that capsulates our world. Read Your Bible; read and understand it. The Psalms share his experience as he testified of the Word of God; Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105 KJV). If anyone walks in the Light he does not stumble. WEEKLY REVIEW Switch on the Light Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12 KJV) Light is an element that brings illumination. The emission of Light brings all things to open or public view. Light makes evident when darkness skews, obscures, disguises, conceals, hides or maligns. Light informs and brings to light what may otherwise be unknown or undiscovered. Light unveils. A switch is a device used to control an appliance and it is important for anyone who desires light. The entrance of light reveals truth, informs, instructions and helps us come into understanding of all thing. We need to fellowship with God s word daily in order to access His light that saves - Jesus. Beloved, kindly know and note; the understanding (light) of the Word of God is the Light to our lives; it illuminates our poise and pursuits that we are not unclear nor uncertain of the expected outcome being righteousness, peace and joy in life. Jesus Christ (The WORD OF GOD) is the Light of the World. Would you switch on the Light? Fetch the Bible; now! Sister Kachi Odumah
