e-update February 09, 2018 Christian Church in Nebraska eupdate: Keeping Disciples informed GOOD NEWS or at least A New Approach to Regional News By Richard Hull, Interim Regional Minister I mastered the art of the weekly printed newsletter in my last congregation. I could write a pastor s article, provide updates on church events and get it to the secretary on Monday afternoon. She would edit and print an attractive Newsletter and get it in the mail late Tuesday afternoon. Just about the time I mastered it people started saying, Don t mail that to me; send me an email. So, I retired. Here in the Regional Office we are going to experiment with a new approach to communicating. Each week, (we hope on Tuesday), we will send an eupdate. It will contain the latest information on regional activities along with continuing reminders of coming events and actions needed plus an occasional reflection on ministry. So, anytime your congregation or your regional ministry has an item to share please email it to adminasst@ccnebr.org. As always editorial decisions will be made by the Regional Minister. Long items will be placed on the website with a link provided in the eupdate. The old format of a monthly newsletter will be set aside during this period. We will try this for a while and then involve the new regional minister in the re-valuation. We will also be experimenting with new formats and ways of distribution. So, expect to like some of the changes and to not like others; regional church is just like your church. Don t forget the most important news: Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near, repent and believe in the good news. Mark 1:14-15

Join Nebraska Disciples in The Week of Compassion Offering February 18-25 Most congregations were sent materials last month. For more information go to: www.weekofcompassion.org New Nebraska Regional Minister Called; Rev. Christopher Morton to Begin in April The Regional Board voted unanimously to call Chris Morton to serve as the next Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska. Chris has served as a pastor of congregations in Indiana, Minnesota and Washington, and in senior leadership and/or executive director of ecumenical and interfaith organizations in Minnesota and Washington. Additionally, Chris has been executive director to a few secular nonprofit organizations, and for nearly 10 years provided organizational development consulting to a variety of not-for-profits. He will move to Lincoln and will begin his ministry in Nebraska in early April. Much appreciation is expressed to the search committee, co-chaired by Eileen Kunz, (pictured with Chris at left,) and Gayle Gengenbach, (right). Chris brings to us the needed balance of pastoral care, administrative ability, fund-raising experience and a vision for future ministry, Eileen said. Other members of the committee were Jay Mitchell, Daryl Lauber, Ann Pope, and Phyllis Dunlop.
