Chris Gibson will move from Chicago to Sacred Heart Monastery in Louisville, Kentucky, effective January 13. The Provincial Council meets January 18-19 via Skype. Provincial Visitation for Christ the King Community will be January 22-25. The Inter-Provincial Council Meeting will be held at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center in North Palm Beach, Florida, during January 29-February 2. LOOKING FORWARD... January 3 Birthday of St. Paul of the Cross January 5 Feast of St. Charles of Mount Argus At the Chicagoland Passionist Family Christmas party, $1,000 was collected and presented to Guillermo Casas, a resident of Senior Suites who needed financial assistance. Senior Suites is the former Immaculate Conception Monastery on Harlem Avenue in Chicago. Guillermo was overwhelmed with gratitude. Many thanks to our Passionist Family who contributed. Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin Visits Holy Family Cristo Rey Mr. Randall Woodfin, the newly-elected mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, visited Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School on Wednesday, December 13, to meet with President, Fr. Jon Chalmers, as well as several board members. The mayor and his staff attended a presentation on the state of the school and future plans for Holy Family Cristo Rey. Mayor Woodfin was interested in speaking with some of the student ambassadors about their participation in the Corporate Work Study Program, their experience at Holy Family Cristo Rey and their future aspirations. The City of Birmingham employs two of the students in the Division of Youth Services. Birmingham Islamic Society Donates Jackets for Students The Birmingham Islamic Society (BIS) recently held a fundraiser to purchase outerwear for Holy Family Cristo Rey students who come to school without a coat. On Monday, December 11, BIS President Ashfaq Taufique, along with several other BIS members, delivered 50 new fleece jackets to the school. We are so grateful to our Muslim neighbors for their support of Holy Family Cristo Rey! (l-r): Math teacher Wade White spoke with Mayor Woodfin on behalf of the faculty. On a Mission... Cedric Pisegna preached an Advent Mission at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mandeville, Louisiana, December 2-6. Cedric preached to a full church each night of the mission. Page 5 Before the Christmas Vigil Mass, Tu-Jin Kim and Don Webber joined the parishioners at Korean Martyrs Catholic Church in Chicago to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Parents performed with their children. Santa Claus brought gifts for the children. Parishioners performed a lively dance for the audience. Tu-Jin offered two-dollar bills as a sign of good fortune for the new year. The choir performed for everyone as well.
