OUR LEADERSHIP Cheryl Doyle, President and Founder Cheryl Doyle has been married to her husband, Brian, for 37 years. They have five children, three of whom are married, and two grandchildren. Brian and Cheryl are members of St. Mary Great Mother of God Parish in Lowell where Cheryl entered the Catholic Church in 1977. Although Cheryl has no formal qualifications for starting a radio station, she had an open heart to follow God s call and a great desire to bring Christ to others and others to Christ. She believes that this apostolate came about only by the guiding light of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of the Blessed Mother. Cheryl began listening regularly to Catholic radio (via satellite) in 2003 and it had a great impact on her faith. As a result, she felt called to make Catholic radio available to others in the West Michigan area to help them discover, or rediscover, the beauty and richness of the Catholic faith, too. Rev. Troy Nevins, Spiritual Director The second of six children, Fr. Troy Nevins grew up in Grand Rapids. A graduate of Forest Hills Northern High School, Fr. Troy entered Christopher House Seminary while attending Aquinas College. In 1988 he transferred to the Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, receiving his bachelor s degree in 1990. In June 1996, following his studies and formation at Mundelein Seminary in Chicago, he was ordained for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. He has served the diocese as Associate Pastor of St. Patrick Church in Portland, Pastor of St. Joseph in Belding and St. Mary Church in Miriam, Pastor of Christ the King in Howard City, Pastor of St. Francis de Sales in Lakeview, and is presently Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Grand Rapids. OUR LISTENERS Who are listeners? (HFR) has a growing loyal listening audience who has helped this apostolate expand rapidly by supporting it with their prayers, financial gifts and hundreds of volunteer hours. Programming on HFR appeals mostly to listeners over 30 years of age, half who are non- Catholic. They care about the Catholic Church, the future of the family, and the moral decline of our culture. Here is a sample of how is impacting the lives of our listeners: is such a blessing. As a recent revert, I am constantly learning about my Catholic faith. I have 4 kids, 5 and under, so taking classes and long hours of reading cannot happen on a regular basis. Being able to turn on the radio while driving gives me the opportunity to learn something new, or just feel connected with my Catholic faith. You have quality programming that I am very proud to promote to others. Thank you for all that you do and God Bless you! -- Angela When HFR was off the air due to flooding at the transmitter site, April 2013: When will be back on the air?! I miss your station so much! Now that I ve found Catholic radio, there s nothing else worth listening to. I m so tired of all the other talk shows all the political arguing and such. -- John A. We re immersed in a culture that is anti-faith, and it s hard to talk about the faith in the workplace. But when you have Catholic radio on, it s a nice steady stream of solid Catholic teaching that gives you the support needed. -- Kathryn Listening to during the day while I work has helped me to keep my faith at the center of all that I do, all of the time. has caused my faith to deepen in prayer and practice. It is such a blessing to have access to Catholic radio! Dawn And many non-catholics and Catholics who have been away from the Church have told us Holy Family Radio offers them the opportunity to eavesdrop on the Catholic faith and (re)discover answers to many questions they have had.
