We are pleased to carry on his life's work and vision by advancing the goals of United Israel World Union. Readers of the Bulletin can learn more of the incredible life and work of our founder by reading David Horowitz: A Life Remembered (1903-2002), or by working through Ralph Buntyn's, Remembering David Horowitz series.
Progress at the UI Center South Jon Langberg officially began assisting the editor at the United Israel Center South this week past. We had a busy week. AT&T installed a new Internet service at the Center, with much improved speeds over our previous provider. Due to our location, the previous best speeds offered were 8 Mbps download and 1.5 Mbps upload. This slow speed often resulted in less than optimal performance during live streaming. The new service guarantees 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. We have performed tests of the new system and have found that speeds have thus far exceeded the guaranteed connection speeds. We are hopeful that the new service will provide a more consistent transmission during live broadcasts thereby resulting in a better experience for our viewers. In addition to the new Internet service, we also now have a phone at the UI Center South. The new phone number for the UI Center South is (225) 245-5173. We are happy to provide this new number and look forward to hearing from some of you. If no one is available to answer the call, you can leave a message and we will return your call. We are in need of a filing cabinet at the UI Center South. We are hoping to find a 5-drawer filing cabinet to store documents and folders. We are looking for a used one in good condition, but if someone has one that they
looking for a used one in good condition, but if someone has one that they are willing to donate to the Center, please email Jon. Of course these are available online for purchase through Amazon. If you want to purchase a new one for the center, let Jon know that as well.
From the Torah The annual reading this Shabbat is Torah Reading Lech Lecha (Genesis 12:1-17:27). The prophet reading associated with Lech Lecha is Isaiah 40:27-41:16. The United Israel Center South will resume its study of the ancient triennial portions of Genesis when the editor returns from Israel on Saturday, November 18th.
Tabor - Nichols 2018 Tour Prof. James D. Tabor and Biblical teacher Ross Nichols are teaming up again for an exclusive tour of the Holy Land the first week of March, 2018. Even if you have traveled to Israel before, or specifically traveled with Tabor or Nichols, this is the tour for you. Our emphasis on this tour will be on New Discoveries in the Holy Land. We will take you behind the scenes, exploring new archaeological and textual discoveries as they are related to the key Biblical sites we will visit. No tour can cover everything but we will take you, quite literally, from Dan to Beersheba (1 Samuel 3:20). Our special theme in choosing our sites for this particular tour is that of Hearing the Voice. We refer here to the particular experiences of key figures of the Bible who have responded to a special spiritual calling. Anyone interested in biblical history and literature will find this tour refreshing and educational from beginning to end. We have no expectations regarding belief systems, politics, or faith orientations. All that is required to go on this tour is a strong orientation toward learning more about the Bible and its history and archaeology. The tour will transform the way you read and understand the Bible. Throughout the tour, we will share the stories that you know well from the texts, in the very places where the events actually took place. We are limiting the number of registrants to 35-40 one busload because we want each person to have time to interact directly with Dr. Tabor and Ross Nichols. Click here to learn more, and to register for this exciting trip to the Holy Land! Seats are filling so sign up soon to secure your spot.
Jodell Onstott Teaching Saturday This Sabbath, October 28th, Jodell Onstott will be teaching since the editor will be traveling to Israel. Jodell is known to members of United Israel World Union. She is a member of United Israel, an ordained teacher, and the author of YHWH Exists. See her website here for more about her book, current classes, media presence, as well as other projects she is working on. Her class is titled, A Holy Spirit; Not What You'd Expect. We will be posting links on our social media pages as usual. We encourage everyone to join Jodell tomorrow at 10:30 AM CST. Here is a summary of the class. The Hebrew Scriptures preserve a unique idea of holiness put into action. When Israel received the Law at Mt. Sinai, He told Israel to be holy (qodesh) because he is holy. The manifestation of holiness can be seen in the attributes of YHWH s spirit, which were often put into action. King David told Israel that he understood the pattern of the Temple through YHWH s spirit. The prophets spoke by YHWH s spirit. What is this spirit of holiness and how does it manifest itself in our lives today? If you think you already know the answer, there may be a few surprises ahead! Donate / Support for UIWU
