Welcome to Worship at First Friends! Lead Pastor, Stan Hinshaw Identity Theft Prayer at the Altar Here at First Friends, God works through prayer. We offer different opportunities for prayer at our altar each Sunday. During our musical worship, if you would like to come and pray at the altar in private, we invite you to come to the left side by our cross. If you would like one of our Prayer Team to pray with you, please come to the opposite side (right) of the altar. We will also continue to offer prayer at the end of each service. Each one of us is created by God with a unique identity that is a reflection of His image (Gen. 1:27). The problem is Jesus said there is a thief that comes to steal, kill and destroy who we are (John 10:10). This summer in a sermon series I am calling Identity Theft, I want to show you how to discover and protect the identity God the Father has given you through His Son Jesus. We will be looking at Paul s letter to the Ephesians to find out what it means for us to find our identity in Christ. Each week there will be a passage from Ephesians for you to read and use my P.R.A.Y. Scripture method to help you become what God says is true about you. P. Pray inviting God to speak to you through His Word R. Read Scripture slowly 2-3 times, in different translations if possible A. Ask questions about the passage including who, what, why, when & how Be quiet for a few minutes and allow God to speak to you through your thoughts and feelings. Y. Yield Write a prayer of response to God and surrender to His Word for you Ephesians P.R.A.Y. Scripture Reading Plan: (the week prior to the dates listed) Sunday, June 17 Ephesians 1:1-6 Sunday, June 24 Ephesians 1:7-14 Sunday, July 1 Ephesians 1:15-23 * The full reading plan is found on our FFC Mobile App and at www.firstfriends.org/sermons The book Victory Over Darkness: Realize the power of your identity in Christ, by Neil T. Anderson is available for $10 at the Welcome Centers. Pastor Stan Hinshaw, Lead Pastor Thank You for Considering Others in Worship Please silence your cell phones during the worship service. Also, if your child becomes restless and loud, the service can be heard in the hall, the women's restroom nursing room, or you can take your child to one of our excellent church nurseries. REACHING NEIGHBORS AND NATIONS What s a Borough? At OSU, a borough is a defined yet porous community that is centered on weekly fellowship, Bible study, and prayer as well as committed to giving every other person in that context at least one opportunity to hear, see, experience, and respond to the Gospel. By His grace, God has raised up 13 student leaders in Alyssa Holaday s action group and 17 in Brian Holaday s action group to help transform nine (of the 18) sororities and seven residence halls on North Campus into boroughs through leading small groups, evangelism, and discipleship. Pray that the student leaders whom Alyssa mentors would lead well in their sororities: Ashley and Abby (ΑΦ), Rachel (ΚΚΓ), Claudia and Raechel (ΓΦΒ), Kristen and Emma Kate (ΑΧΩ), Cassie and Gabby (ΚΔ), Holly (ΧΩ), Nikki (ΑΓΔ), Anna (ΔΖ), and Morgan (ΦΣΡ). Pray that the student leaders whom Brian mentors would lead well in their residence halls: Andrew, Lucas, Chris, Teddy, Joel, Logan, Sam, Lukas, Kyle, John, Ethan, Michael, Blake, Matt, Josh, Levi, and Joe. Also please pray for the 11 graduating seniors whom Alyssa & Brian have mentored to be lifetime disciple-makers and honor the Lord in their vocations: Abbey: Cru intern - OSU; Anna: business; Eva: business; Julia: Master s studies - public health; Kaitlyn: Master s studies psychology; Lindsay: chemical engineering; Morgan: industrial engineering; Ben: teaching math; Mark: PhD studies electrical engineering; Michael: PhD studies robotics; Ryan: construction management. Have a Prayer Need? Call or email Greg Roth at 330.454.4100 or groth@neo.rr.com and our prayer warriors will lift your request before the Lord. The story of the Prodigal Son teaches us that we belong with God and we can always come home. Contact Tammy Forsythe at tforsythe@firstfriends.org Vacation Bible School We had an awesome week "Discovering Jesus from Eternity Past to Eternity Future".Our week was a HUGE success! We were able to share the love of Jesus with almost 400 children. We were able to bless the Salvation Army with donations for their "Back to School" program and with our missions offering we were able to bless H.O.T. Homeless Outreach Team. If you prayed, donated snacks, helped with set up last Sunday, helped put things back on Friday, decorated, volunteered in any way - You were an answer to our prayers. Many children were blessed by you being the hands and feet of Jesus. Thank you! We couldn't have done it without you. Parents If you have a child/children in one of our nurseries, please leave your phone number with us when you drop them off. We will then add you to our Mobile Text Alert System.
