From the desk of the Pastor San Felipe de Church, Fr. Andy Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Many things are happening all around our church. For this we are truly grateful and faithful that our God is always with us. This past Wednesday, we began the holy and HAPPY season of Lent. I entrust all have gotten into their Lenten practices with good cheer and look forward to a season of grace, fulfillment and preparation for the Easter season now about six weeks away. This week s gospel tells us of the temptation of Jesus in the desert by the evil one. This is a wonderful example by our God of the difficulty he had to address, head-on. The tempter tried to take Jesus off course. But, Jesus did not give in to the cunning devious attempts to take him off the path of holiness and salvation for us all. We realize that there is evil all around us. We need to ward off that evil, as best we can, just like Jesus did. We need to trust that our God will be with us even when we might not realize we are being taken off our way to holiness. We need to embrace our Sacraments, especially Reconciliation, when we feel we are being attacked. We need to be strong in our faith as those attacks will try and pull us off course to our eternal reward. Something else new that you may have already realized is this bulletin. Today we are inaugurating our newly revamped bulletin. We have changed bulletin companies to J.S. Paluch and you will see some of the benefits right here. We can now have 4-color photography on our cover (as well as special covers for different seasons or, celebration through the year). We have some more space in this bulletin to include more things like designated space for the leaders of ministries and a corner just for the school and another one for the Gift Shop and Museum regularly. We have added some more advertisers. I strongly urge you to support our advertisers as it is through their ads that we not only get this bulletin for no cost to the community, but, we can get a nice little payment too. If the ad page is filled, we can get a payment to be used for the needs of our holy and historic church. Please review this and share any ideas for additions or, changes you may see necessary. I will work with the staff over the next weeks to insure this is an excellent resource for our community. May God bless us today and always! 40 Days For Life From March 1 through April 9, you re invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion.
