A Graceful Mess By: Megan Vollmer Curve Balls There is an old phrase that says that when we make plans, God laughs. While He may not necessarily always laugh, life sure does have a funny way of throwing curve balls in our path. They shake up our plans. They force us to adapt and change when we otherwise might not have. It can certainly be frustrating when things do not go exactly our way, but it can also help us recognize our own strength and potential. It may be discouraging to have these unexpected events thrown our way, but we should be willing for face and accept them. We can decide to either be disheartened, or we can accept that maybe God just has a bigger plan for us. After all, we should trust that He wouldn t give us a challenge without the strength to face it. Sometimes we do not give ourselves enough credit or sell ourselves short, and these curve balls are just God s way of showing us that we are so much more. Two Sunday Morning Adult Bible Studies One of our Adult Bible Study series is called Journey Through the Bible. This series' focus is an examination of the Bible from three dimensions. Each week we will examine each of these avenues of thought as we study the Bible book by book. The next in the series is Matthew. We will be meeting in the Fireside Room at 9:45am every Sunday. Class is led by Jan & Mike Donahou. Join us as we look deeply into God's Word. Adult Bible Class Winter - 2018 Self-Controlled, Upright and Godly Faith The four lessons in February, look at passages from Acts, James, and First Timothy. They provide specific examples of faith as belief and action. James teaches that faith without works is dead. The lesson from First Timothy offers instructions about leading others in a life of faith. Join the Adult Bible Study in the Disciple Room at 9:45am to learn more about the Bible. Happy Birthday, Missionaries! Dan and Rachel Gabler both have birthdays coming up. Our Easter offering goes to their salary support so they have been in our church many times, sharing their mission. They have led very interesting, varied lives as they both grew up in missionary families so are quite familiar with the world in ways that most of us are not! Among many other things, Rachel is a writer of many things including skits for radio and TV, Christian education for many levels and many situations: Sunday schools, training for Pastors and teachers, in many countries. While Rachel is writing, where ever they happen to be, Dan is busy repairing airplanes, including taking them down to their skin! Often he flies them to ferry others where ever they need to be. To support them write your check to our church designated for: Rachel: Conference Advance #3021537 or Wisconsin Conference Advance #7948; Dan: Wings of the Morning Advance #08597A Rummage Sale News There will be no Rummage Sale in 2018. Please save your items at home for 2019 as there is no storage room at the church. Articles will be in the 2019 newsletters to let you know when you can bring them to church. Thank you for your support! 2018 Church Directories The new 2018 Church Directories are available at either entrance. Pick up your free copy. Please call the church office at 334-2059 if there are any changes, corrections, etc. 8
