Thank you and Merry Christmas! $75 a week helps bring new seminarians to the diocese $120 each week helps bring catholics back to the church $40 buys 10 bibles in english or spanish 50 gifts of $100 help protect children 1. Recruiting Seminarians in Texas San Angelo, Texas: Diocese of San Angelo It is critical for the growth and spiritual well-being of Catholic people in this remote diocese to promote and recruit candidates for priesthood. With your help, the diocese will have the resources to reach out and encourage a new generation of men to become priests, building leadership for future generations. 2. Call Catholics Back Home in Louisiana Shreveport, Louisiana: Diocese of Shreveport A lay program called Calling Catholics Home is reaching out to Catholics in this diocese who no longer practice, inviting them back to their faith s embrace. Your support helps Bishop Michael G. Duca pay for a week s worth of outreach and material to call the area s Catholics home. 3. Provide Bibles to a Poor Diocese Brownsville, Texas: Diocese of Brownsville In this diocese at the southernmost tip of Texas, Catholics lack the most basic symbols of their faith even Bibles. Pastoral ministers who regularly reach out to the homebound, imprisoned and homeless have little to leave with them other than prayers and encouragement. Please help purchase Bibles to give to those who are poor and spiritually yearning. 4. Protect School Children in Puerto Rico Humacao, Puerto Rico: Diocese of Fajardo-Humacao Colegio San Benito is a small school that affords low-income children the opportunity to receive a Catholic education, but it is located in an unsafe neighborhood. School administrators ask for your gift to build a protective wall around the campus to keep the young students safe and the school secure. CHRISTMAS 2010 15

Help Dominican Sisters Teach Hatch, New Mexico: Diocese of Las Cruces This diocese desperately needs more leaders but cannot afford a full-time pastoral associate. Instead, the responsibility for religious education and all other pastoral duties rests with several Dominican sisters who are the only Catholic ministerial presence in the area. They would be so grateful for your support to help them teach the faith. 7. Minister to Prisoners in Kansas Pawnee Rock, Kansas: Diocese of Dodge City The Catholic-Christian Chaplaincy for the Spiritual Care of the Incarcerated is the only ministry for male prisoners in Dodge City. For less than a dollar a day, it provides religious education and spiritual guidance to men who otherwise might be ignored or abandoned. The only funding the chaplaincy receives is from your gifts.
