CPC HAPPENINGS - OUR MONTHLY NEWSLETTER AUGUST, 2018 Dear Cherokee Friends, I hope your summer has been relaxing and enjoyable and that you have had time to find some rest and make memories with your family. I also hope that you have set time aside to build your faith as well. I have enjoyed reading the comments of those on Facebook who have participated in the Summer of Jesus reading program. As I know from personal experience, it is all too easy during the summer months to neglect spiritual development. With autumn season looming ahead the time of vacations draws to a close and our attention turns back home. Many see this as a sign that we go back to the grind, return to school, or are forced to face the unpleasant obligations of daily life. However, I want to invite you to see this as a return to the adventure of life. Our regular days and hours do not hold the glamour of summer time, but this is the time the Holy Spirit often does most of Her work in us. This is a time to grow in our faith. At Cherokee, one of our core values is Grow and in this next coming season we want to make this a season of your growth. Coming soon we will offer many exciting opportunities for you to practice your faith, increase discipleship, and grow in the wisdom that leads us on the path of life. Keep your calendars open on August 26 th, we will have Rally Day and Faith Fair and present some of our fall opportunities to you. We hope you will join us for this time to not only celebrate what God has done in our lives, but open ourselves to the opportunities He presents to us to practice and cultivate our faith. May you be blessed in the coming days and continue to encounter our amazing God in all that you do. Peace in Christ, Rev. Robert Cely There are a lot of great things coming up this fall at Cherokee! Join us on Sunday, August 26th following worship to explore those things while we rally for the great things to come! you continue to be a part of the ministry to which we are being called?! Do you have friends you would like to introduce to CPC? This would be a great day for them to see snippets of what we do and who we are. The different ministries of CPC will each have a table for you to visit while you enjoy your lunch and fellowship. We encourage you to stop at each table! For each ministry you visit and speak to the representative you will receive a ticket (the more you visit, the more tickets you get). Those tickets will then be entered in a drawing for some super awesome prizes to be awarded at 12:30 that day! So be sure to stay until the end! VBS UPDATE Vacation Bible School children raised $304 to send to the Society of St. Andrew to help get food, that would otherwise have gone to waste, to those who are in need.
