CE NEWS The Christian Education Committee wishes to inform our congregation that our beloved Christian Ministries Coordinator, Priscilla Duda is leaving her position in our church. Priscilla and her family will be relocating to New Jersey by the end of the summer. As we begin to interview for a new Christian Ministries Coordinator, we are extremely thankful for the many improvements and programs that Priscilla is leaving in place. This will make for a smooth transition for our next coordinator. We realize that Priscilla, Brian, Tyler, Nathan and Connor have been extremely vital members of our church family. The imprint they have made on our church will be remembered with much appreciation and happiness. We are saddened to see them leave, but excited for the opportunity Brian s new position will afford their family. Finally we ask for your prayers, for the Duda s and our church during this transitional time for us all. Sincerely, Your CE Committee FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR Cut flowers from your garden would be most welcome this summer for the church altar on Sunday mornings. On one of our VBS days we looked at Creation and how on day 2 God made water when he separated it from the sky! This year we hoped to raise $300.00 to purchase the Gift of Clean Water through Heifer International, a gift that will provide a community with clean healthy water for daily living, help families install treadle pumps, teach about managing water resources and improve sanitation. We are short of our goal; any donation to help us fill the gap would be welcome. http://www.heifer.org/gift-catalog/basic-needs/the-gift-of-clean-water-donation.html

Winner of the National Book Award, Nathaniel Philbrick's book is a fantastic saga of survival and adventure, steeped in the lore of whaling, with deep resonance in American literature and history. In 1820, the whaleship Essex was rammed and sunk by an angry sperm whale, leaving the desperate crew to drift for more than ninety days in three tiny boats. Nathaniel Philbrick uses little-known documents and vivid details about the Nantucket whaling tradition to reveal the chilling facts of this infamous maritime disaster.amazon Our next meeting will be Monday, September 26 at 7 PM in the Chapel. It will be a potluck of appetizers, desserts and beverages. We hope you will join in!
