Navajo Time? But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. - 2 Peter 3:8 Doing what God wants of us requires patience. In a few days, 15 of us from the Presbyterian Church of Marion will be leaving for a hot and dusty corner of Arizona. While there we will be serving at Trinity Presbyterian Church in the Navajo community of Chinle. One of the frustrations of planning such a trip to Navajo country is that there is such a thing as Navajo time. Things will happen, plans will be made, details worked out when the time is right. I need to remember both viewpoints. My Navajo friends get a lot of things right; including not being in such a rush. There is a lesson in that. A lesson I learned on our first trip there nearly 20 years ago. Work hard, serve the Lord, worship, and pray. In Navajo time. I know that God does not see time as we do. Peter makes that clear that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. I m thinking that our God must laugh at us and our impatience. As it says in Proverbs, The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Continued on next page)

I would covet your prayers as we serve in Chinle June 17-23. Prayers for safe travel; prayers for productive work, prayers for the planned ministry to be one that glorifies Christ; prayers for understanding as we share a cultural experience. Prayers for me as I preach on June 17 at Trinity. Prayers for patience. We will operate on Navajo time. And rely on God s timing for everything. God loves you and so do I -Pastors Chris JUNE 2018 WORSHIP HIGHLIGHTS June 3, 2018 Scripture: Mark 2:23-3:6 Lord of the Sabbath The Sabbath was man for us! The Lord s Supper will be observed. Deacon s Blood Drive...The Deacons will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive here at the church on Tuesday, June 5 th. The blood drive will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please visit the table in the Narthex for information on donating blood. You can schedule an appointment by calling the Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit their scheduling site at redcrossblood.org and enter Marion Center to schedule an appointment. Cry Room Attendants We are looking to have someone available every Sunday morning to help out in the Cry Room. This is a ministry that is needed as our number of babies and toddlers continues to increase. If you would like to help, please let Susie Enoch know. All help will need to have had a background check completed (we can help you out that that). Thank you in advance!
