Pastoral Staff Open Hearts... Open Minds... Open Doors... Senior Pastor Rev. Dale Chance PastorDale@FUMCBrenham.org Associate Pastor Rev. Kay Reed PastorKay@FUMCBrenham.org Life Isn t Fair Dana West is a preschool teacher. She says, One of the things I try to teach my preschool students is the name of each day of the week. Every morning I ask them what day it is. The children respond by guessing the day. On the fourth day of one week, I asked my usual question, and after several children guessed wrong I said, It s Thursday! Thursday! After a moment of puzzled silence, one child said in frustration, Miss Dana, you change the answer every day! Do you ever feel that way? Do you ever think that you have got life figured out only to find that the answers have changed? I know that I certainly have. As a parent, you have one child and by the time you have a little confidence in your parenting skills, you have another child and he is entirely different. I know as a pastor that church is a lot different today than it was twenty one years ago when I started preaching. The answers keep changing. Everyone I have talked to has told me that in their professions they do things a lot differently than they did even five years ago. In this world of changing answers, it is good to know that there is one answer that never changes. That is Jesus. He is the certainty of our uncertain world. He is the constant reminder to us that God s love for us never changes. He is the one sure foundation upon which we can build our lives. So in the midst of a world where the answers change daily, remember that there is One who never changes. His name is Jesus. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. We realize now, looking up into the clear, blue sky above, what a marvel even the least drop of rain really is. To think that so much water can fall out of the sky, which now is empty and clear! We place our trust in You. We are sure that You know our needs, but You want us to ask You anyway, to show You that we know we are dependent on You. Look on our dry hills and fields, dear God, and bless them with the living blessings of soft rain. The land will rejoice and the rivers will sing Your praises and the hearts of men will be glad. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

MISSION MOMENT Each April, FUMC partners with Blinn College for a Brenham work day. We call it the Blinn Blitz. Students volunteer through their Student Learning program (directed by Dr. Greg Phillips) at Blinn. They provide the labor and the FUMC Missions and Outreach ministry obtains the jobs and provides some supervision. For our first Blitz, we had over 40 volunteers and they did a great job for Faith Mission. Last year we obtained the names of eight senior citizens in Brenham who needed help doing special work in their yards or around their homes. There were 60 volunteers this time. The homeowners were well pleased and the students seemed to be enjoying doing the work. Each year we will identify different jobs to be done around town. We hesitate putting an ad in the paper, for fear we'll have more work than the students can accomplish, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
