All are invited to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Reconciliation, Forgiveness Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass again us I am a disciple of the Lord, and the Lord taught me to forgive everyone, even my enemies. On the cross, the Lord even forgave those who were crucifying him. Forgiveness is not an easy task, but it is entirely within reach. Forgiveness is distinct from reconciliation. Reconciliation requires the cooperation of both parties. Forgiveness requires the action of only one party. Even if reconciliation is not possible, I can still forgive. Everyone has some baggage from the past. I need to cut it loose and that involves not only forgiving others but also asking forgiveness from those I have wronged. On June 8, 1972, U.S. military planes dropped napalm bombs on a South Vietnamese village, mistaking it for a North Vietnamese infiltration area. With her family and neighbors, nine year old Kim Phuc Phan Tai ran for her life. The bombs incinerated her clothing and left her with 3rd degree burns. As the terrified child ran for safety, an A.P. photographer captured the moment (and won the 1973 Pulitzer Prize). Several of the girl s family members died during the bombing. Kim was hospitalized for a year, fighting for her life and needing 17 operations over 14 months. As she grew up, she struggled with pain as well as the publicity of the photo. But, she says, the photo became a means for her to work for peace. At age 19, she became a Christian and prayed to learn how to forgive. At a Veteran s Day ceremony in Washington, DC in 1996, she met the pilot who had coordinated the bombing. She credits God for giving her the ability to forgive. She stated, I have lived so much with hatred; now I value so much the lesson that I learned to forgive. I forgive myself. I love the people who caused my suffering. St. Joseph, show us how to live, how to love. Show us how to trust, how to care, how to give our lives to God. OUR STEWARDSHIP COMMITMENT Prayer Participation Generosity Just as God gave the Israelites land for a home, God has also given us a home whether it be grand or humble.
