A PRAYING COMMUNITY ORDER FOR THE WORSHIP OF GOD Park Cities Presbyterian Church May 6, 2007 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 am To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and want fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to all who will come, this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please turn off all communication devices. Thank you. Preparation for Worship Call to Worship Dr. Pete Deison Minister: Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! People: Oh Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Psalm 95.1-2, 6-7 * Hymn of Adoration No. 382 God Himself Is with Us WUNDERBARER KÖNIG * Prayer of Adoration * Profession of Our Church's Faith Minister: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deuteronomy. 6:4-7 Christian, what do you believe?

People: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. The Apostles Creed All: (singing) Let Children Hear the Mighty Deeds AZMON Please be seated. Public Confession of Sin Our Father, when You are angry towards us for our wrongs we try to pacify You by abstaining from future sin; but teach us that we cannot satisfy Your law, that this effort is a resting in our righteousness, that only Christ s righteousness, ready made, already finished, is fit for that purpose; that Your chastising us for our sin is not that we should reform, but only that we may be more humbled, afflicted, and separated from sin, by being reconciled, and made righteous in Christ by faith. Teach us that if we cast away our faith we cast You away, for by faith we apprehend You. Humble us for not being as holy as we should be, or as holy as we might be through Christ, for You are everything, and to possess You is to possess everything. Private Confession - 2 -

Words of Assurance and Comfort of the Gospel He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1 Peter 2:24-25 Song of Assurance Lamb of God T. Paris 9:30/11:00 Your only Son, no sin to hide, but You have sent Him from Your side, To walk upon this guilty sod, and to become the Lamb of God. Refrain: O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God, I love the holy Lamb of God! O wash me in His precious blood, my Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. I was so lost, I should have died, but You have brought me to Your side, To be led by Your staff and rod, and to be called a lamb of God. (Refrain) Update from Pulpit Search Committee Prayer of Intercession/Offertory Prayer The Rev. Ron Williams 8:00 The Rev. Mark Davis 9:30 The Rev. Patrick Lafferty 11:00 Musical Offering 8:00 Mr. Colin Howland, Organ 9:30/11:00 Be Not Afraid C. Courtney Chancel Choir J. Marty Cope, Director Be not afraid for I have redeemed you; be not afraid, I have called you by name. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you pass through the floods, they will not sweep o'er you; when you walk through the fire, you will not be consumed; you are Mine, you are precious in My sight. My love for you is everlasting; My love for you shall have no end. * The Greeting of Peace Minister: Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Colossians 3.15 People: And also with you. The Service of Friendship If you are seated on the left end of the pew, please take the Service of Friendship pad, fill out the information and pass it down. When it arrives at the other end of the pew, pass it back, taking note of those who are seated in your row. - 3 -

Extending the Kingdom: Young Families Ministry Mr. Keith Mullen * The Scripture Reading Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. The Morning Sermon The Promises Dr. Deison Worshipers at 9:30 and 11:00, continue on page 5 The Great Thanksgiving Minister: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit. Minister: Lift up your hearts! People: We lift them up to the Lord! Minister: Let us give thanks unto our Lord God. People: It is right to give Him thanks and praise. Minister: It is right and good and a joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks unto You, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God. People: Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your glorious Name; evermore praising You, and singing: Please stand. * Prayer of Thanksgiving and Blessing * The Words of Institution - 4 -

The Communion Please come forward down the center aisle. Partake of the elements upon receiving them from the elders. Return to your seat with your empty cup via the side aisle. During the Serving of Communion Please use the following Scripture for private meditation. 1 Peter 1.3-9 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, as was necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Worshipers at 9:30 and 11:00, continue here * Closing Hymn No. 460 Amazing Grace! AMAZING GRACE Stanzas: 1, 3, 4, 6 * Benediction Minister: The LORD bless you and keep you. The LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26 People: Thanks be to God! Amen. Postlude Mr. Colin Howland, Organ * The congregation stands. The flowers in our worship service this morning are given to the glory of God and in memory of Sherry Ridlehuber on the occasion of her birthday by her daughter and son-in-law, Amy Benson and Bryce, and grandsons Carter and Caleb. Park Cities Presbyterian Church exists to extend the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in Dallas and to the world. Music by permission: CCLI #364068-5 -
