Confirmed Christians claim as their own the new life into which they were first initiated at Baptism. The Church community expresses the continued support and concern for the spiritual growth of those confirmed, while the latter promise in return to help others grow and mature in Christian life. Covenant Dear God and Father, I thank You and praise You, for You have given me life, and supported by those who have loved me, You have welcomed me into Your people, the Church, through the waters of Baptism. Now I prepare to seal my life in Your family through the sacrament of Confirmation, and I therefore promise to accept and fulfill the following responsibilities of Catholic Christian life: I believe that one of the most important signs of who and what we are as a Catholic Christian people is our prayer, and so, I promise to make some time each day to speak and listen to You. I promise as well to join the people of our parish in the celebration of Mass each Sunday. I believe that it is very important for me as a Catholic Christian person to know about my faith, and so, I promise to study my faith through the Faith Formation/ Youth Ministry Program as well as at home with my family. I promise also to be prepared to answer questions about my beliefs to show that I have taken my commitment seriously. I believe that being a Catholic Christian means that I should always be willing to serve other people, and so, I promise to look for ways to do that as I take a more active role in the life of the Church. I promise to remember that I am called to be a voice for the voiceless and to help others with an open heart. I understand all these things are ways which will show that I am ready to be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation, and so, I promise to live up to these responsibilities by working with my parish community. I promise to do all these things for You, Father, and for all the members of my family, the Church. Date Candidate s Signature Parent s Promise: As a member of the Church, I promise to support my child in this time of preparation.
