THE BEACON Glenn L. Ward, Director of Missions 1844 Acton Hwy, Granbury, TX 76049 gwarddom.pba@gmail.com 817-579-5111 THE HARVEST IS PAST, THE SUMMER HAS ENDED, AND WE ARE NOT SAVED. These were words of Jeremiah the prophet in 8:20 as he mourned over the condition of God s people. The verse came to mind as I was preparing to write this article summer has ended, schools have begun and even in the midst of numerous activities and opportunities serving the Lord over the past three months, can we say that more people are part of the Kingdom of God as a result? One of the exciting events for Paluxy Association is that we had our first association-wide mission trip. Members of three churches participated while funds, materials, equipment and other supplies were contributed by several other churches and individuals. Here is a brief overview of what was accomplished in Juarez, Mexico: 1. VBS high attendance of 94; Family Night had the highest attendance of any VBS I ve seen in this location, especially dads. We fed 200 hotdogs, over 150 cups of beans, 5 watermelons and over 5 gallons of punch. 2. Construction five buildings were improved through such things as electrical wiring (replaced and/or repaired), painting, replaced broken door-knobs and deadbolts, built and painted shelving, repaired roof vents and patched leaks, installed a new propane tank for the kitchen, repaired four toilets and three showers, and began preparations for the next trip and the projects needed., 3. Security Fence to provide safety and security to their property, a new fence has been installed that will make it much better to keep their facilities secure. Vandals and thieves had made this necessary, even with a night-watchman. To you who contributed to the cost of this fence, thank you! If you would be interested in joining us on a future trip, the next date will be October 30-November 5. We will be doing some more electrical work and other repairs and maintenance to make their facilities more useable. Please let me know if you are interested. I m so glad to be your DOM, Glenn Sept/Oct 2014 Vol. XXII Issue IX Prayer Walking for Schools Thank you to all who participated - whether on the property or at home; the Lord heard your prayers. John 10:14-16 I am the good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine. As the Father knows Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd. PBA 2015 THE GATHERING Our Planning Team met on August 28 and began praying for God s direction and help. We will meet again at the Association office, on Thursday, Sept. 25th at 6:30 pm to continue praying and seeking the Lord. Your opinions are important and your talents are needed. Please consider joining us; there is joy in serving the Lord! If you have any questions, please call the Association office, 817-579-5111. Ward Director of Missions August 26, 2014 Dear Partners of : Your participation and cooperation as we partner together as is a great testimony of what the Lord can do when His people unite around His purpose of reaching our world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Truly He has done some wonderful things through these efforts to share His love and grace thank you for being part of it with your financial gifts, your prayers, and your involvement in various ways. The Associational Council has met and determined the budget for 2015. Of course it will be presented at the Annual Meeting on October 27, at Acton Baptist Church, for adoption by the messengers who attend. However, I wanted to make you aware of some things related to the budget that may help your church s budget planning for 2015 as well. It is exciting that the budgeting process includes some funds for helping start new missions in the coming year one of which is already in the works Lipan Cowboy Church, which will actually begin services on September 14. Other possibilities are being discussed as well therefore, we are budgeting with that in mind. In 2012 our annual receipts were $ 113,759. The 2013 receipts were $ 126,500.52. Using the receipts for January through July, plus the amount received for August through December last year, our receipts will be about $133,670. The proposed budget for 2015 is $ 136,714.72. I am asking that you and your budget committee consider increasing your financial support from your church s upcoming budget through your local Association. Let s pray that the Lord will put it on the hearts of His people to give generously for His glory! May the Lord bless you as we join together to further His Kingdom through in the days ahead! I am so glad to be your Director of Missions, Glenn L. Ward
