Matt. 4:23 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matt. 5:2, 43-48 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 2 43 44 45 46 47 48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Luke 10:25-37 25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 26 27 28 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. Rom. 13:8-10 8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 10 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. I Cor. 13:1-8 (to :) 1 2 3 4 THOUGH I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Charity never faileth: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy SH 476:32-4 Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal 477:1 man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour 3 saw God s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. SH 467:3-4 The, 7-8 3 The first demand of this Science is, Thou shalt have no other gods before me. This me is Spirit. The second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. SH 9:5 The test of all prayer lies in the answer to these 6 questions: Do we love our neighbor better because of this asking? Do we pursue the old selfishness, satisfied with having prayed for something better, though we give no evidence of the sin- 9 cerity of our requests by living consistently with our prayer? If selfishness has given place to kindness, 12 we shall regard our neighbor unselfishly, and bless them that curse us; but we shall never meet this great duty simply by asking that it may be done. There is 15 a cross to be taken up before we can enjoy the fruition of our hope and faith. Summit of aspiration SH 88:18-20 18 To love one s neighbor as one s self, is a divine idea; but this idea can never be seen, felt, nor understood through the physical senses. SH 284:15, 21-23, 28-29, 31-32 30 Can Deity be known through the material senses? Can the material senses, which receive no direct evidence of Spirit, give correct testimony 18 as to spiritual life, truth, and love? 21 The physical senses can obtain no proof of God. They
4 of 6 12/3/2013 11:07 AM can neither see Spirit through the eye nor hear it through the ear, nor can they feel, taste, or smell Spirit. According to Christian Science, the only real senses of man are spiritual, emanating from divine Mind. The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man. SH 303:30-15 When the evidence before the material senses yielded to spiritual sense, the apostle declared that nothing could alienate him from 304:1 God, from the sweet sense and presence of Life and Truth. 3 It is ignorance and false belief, based on a material sense of things, which hide spiritual beauty and goodness. Understanding this, Paul said: Neither death, nor life,... nor things present, 6 nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from 9 the love of God. This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into 12 sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death. The perfect man governed 15 by God, his perfect Principle is sinless and eternal. SH 247:15-27 Immortal men and women are models of spiritual sense, drawn by perfect Mind and reflecting those higher conceptions of loveliness 18 which transcend all material sense. Comeliness and grace are independent of matter. Being possesses its qualities before they are perceived humanly. Beauty is a thing of life, which 21 dwells forever in the eternal Mind and reflects the charms of His goodness in expression, form, 24 outline, and color. It is Love which paints the petal with myriad hues, glances in the warm sunbeam, arches the cloud with the bow of beauty, blazons the night with 27 starry gems, and covers earth with loveliness. SH 248:3 (only), 12 3 Love never loses sight of loveliness. 12 15 18 21 24 The sculptor turns from the marble to his model in order to perfect his conception. Then you are haunted in your work by vicious sculptors and hideous forms. Do you not hear from all mankind of the imperfect model? The world is holding it before your gaze continually. The result is that you are liable to follow those lower patterns, limit your lifework, and adopt into your experience the angular outline and deformity of matter models. SH 305:20 The inverted images presented by the senses, the deflections of matter as opposed to the Science of spirit- 21 ual reflection, are all unlike Spirit, God. In the illusion of life that is here to-day and 24 gone to-morrow, man would be wholly mortal, were it not that Love, the divine Principle that obtains in divine Science, destroys all error and brings immortality to light. Because man is the reflection of his 27 Maker, he is not subject to birth, growth, maturity, decay. These mortal dreams are of human origin, not 30 divine. SH 366:12-19 12 The physician who lacks sympathy for his fellowbeing is deficient in human affection, and we have the apostolic warrant for asking: He that loveth 15 not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? Not having this spiritual affection, the physician lacks faith in the divine 18 Mind and has not that recognition of infinite Love which alone confers the healing power. SH 248:26 We must form perfect 27 models in thought and look at them continually, or we shall never carve them out in grand and noble lives. Let unselfishness, goodness, mercy, justice, 30 health, holiness, love the kingdom of heaven reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear. SH 55:16-21 15 My weary hope tries to realize that happy day, when man shall 18 recognize the Science of Christ and love his neighbor as himself, when he shall realize God s omnipotence and the healing power of the divine Love in what it has done 21 and is doing for mankind.
