HERBY HAM ACTIVITY CENTER www.herbyhamactivitycenter.org : (830)-591-2711 Like us on Facebook If you think you are too small to be effective, then you have never been in the dark with a mosquito. Unknown SUE S CORNER I received a phone call from my husband, who is an ex-police officer, the Friday after the shootings in Dallas. He asked that I gather a few around HHAC for prayer over our nation and the families of the turmoil that has risen. Right away I posted on Facebook and made a call to Uvalde City Hall and the CVB about having a noon prayer time that day in Town Square. Within a couple of hours, what started out as a small prayer get-together with a few area residents, soon turned into an event with about 200 showing up. What a testimony of the heart of Uvalde in that so many dropped what they were doing and took time to join us in prayer for such a time as this. All this could not have been done without the help of Sorayda Sanchez, City Secretary, at Uvalde City Hall. Sorayda immediately called area Law Enforcement, EMS, Fire Dept., and Border Patrol, informing them of our plans. Because of her effort each area was represented. Thank you Sorayda for what you did in helping to make this happen. We will continue to gather the 2nd Friday of the month at noon. Please take a few minutes of your day and join us for PRAYER AT THE SQUARE as we pray protection over our families, city, nation, and world. HHAC FAN SPOTLIGHT Ann & Jack Molloy (Sorry, no picture of Jack) HHAC & COLLETTE TRAVELS present Asking the question how long have you been a part of Herby Ham Activity Center the number one answer is since the beginning. That is what Jack and Ann Molloy said concerning HHAC. It has been a part of our lives for years and, hopefully will for years to come Jack said while cleaning the pool which he has maintained for over 25 years. That is same amount of time that Ann has taught Water Aerobic classes to literally hundreds, probably thousands, of people throughout those years. The doctor told me that by the looks of my MRI, I should be in a wheelchair because of spine problems Ann said. And just like the doctors told our Spotlight Fan last month, Rose, they told Ann the same thing. Keep up what ever you are doing because it is keeping you upright. Both Ann and Jack spent most of their lives in the Uvalde area and have made quite a reputation in the area of being HHAC Fans. Their generosity to the people of Uvalde is amazing and their love of this center shows in all they do. Thanks Jack and Ann. Keep it up! HHAC S A GOSPEL NIGHT OUT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS Mt Olive Baptist Church Crystal City The gospel group, God s Scrap Iron out of Utopia Tx,, opened the evening with He s The Lily of the Valley as over 175 area residents attended Herby Ham Activity Center s A Gospel Night Out on Friday, July 23. Toni Hull coordinated the event, inviting over 20 different groups and gospel singers from Uvalde and surrounding areas, to be the talent for the evening including The Mt Olive Baptist Church Gospel Choir from Crystal City, which closed the evening with their rendition of Ill Fly Away. The idea of the Gospel Night Out began when Toni was watching The Gather Gospel Hour one evening and began thinking about the hymns she sang in church most of her life. Realizing how she missed and loved those hymns, she wondered if others felt the same. Sure enough they did. Toni, knowing of the amazing talent in the Uvalde area, made multiple phone calls to area churches and friends and the first Uvalde Gospel Gala was born at the Opera House on June 14, 2014. Herby Ham AC adopted the Gospel Gala and changed its name to A Gospel Night Out which is now planned as a biyearly event. What an amazing way to glorify and honor God said Alicia Aguilar who attended the evening. Our next Gospel Night Out will be Saturday, January 21, 2017. Make plans now to attend.
