Letter from the President Merry Christmas! Recently, I just finished writing my book, The Last Words of the Martyrs. My purpose for writing the book was to show Christians what their brothers and sisters around the world go through and unpack what it really means to be a Christian, as well as learn from the persecuted Church. I bring this up because, over the years, I ve found the persecuted to be the antidote to the culture of Western Christianity, which I feel is too often focused on building up big churches and massive followings. I also think that the message of the persecuted is fitting as we go through the Christmas season. You see, Christmas is rarely a social holiday for the persecuted, as it is in the West. They often can t celebrate openly, but instead focus on the greatest gift ever given...the Son! He is the solution to what Christmas has devolved into in the West. This Christmas, I want to focus on what I received roughly 30 years ago. That gift was life! Exhilarating new life as His spirit came into me and brought one dead man to life. That gift came to me because the Father first sent us a baby who would one day die to set us free. As you ponder afresh the wonder of that event, can I ask you to remember the persecuted with a gift this Christmas season? Thank you so much for being a part of this ministry to the persecuted. Jeff King President, International Christian Concern To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 3

Where Most Needed Religious persecution can take shape in countless different forms. Through our numerous different funds, ranging from Kids Care to Underground Pastors, we do all we can to address the wideranging needs of the suffering Church. However, persecution does not always fit into a well-defined box. That s why we established ICC s Where Most Needed fund. The Where Most Needed fund is used to assist persecuted believers in situations that may not fall under the categories of our other structured funds. Additionally, it allows us the freedom to provide immediate assistance when another fund may be lacking. The Where Most Needed fund also provides for the essential work that takes place behind the scenes, such as advocacy work and investigative trips. Apart from these efforts, we would not be able to carry out the life-changing work that takes place on the ground. Trips Persecution often takes place in remote areas of the world. You can help ICC send individuals and teams to these and other regions to stand with the persecuted in their hour of need. $100 $2,500 Fund 1 day of an overseas trip for our U.S. staff Cover the cost of an entire overseas trip where we investigate cases of persecution and initiate projects to relieve the suffering of the persecuted. 4 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Advocacy ICC s advocacy team works with U.S. government leaders to apply pressure to countries that persecute, free imprisoned believers, support critical legislation, and lead advocacy tours on Capitol Hill. $100 $3,000 Fund part of an advocacy tour Sponsor a full advocacy tour on Capitol Hill, in which overseas representatives from persecuted countries detail the plight of Christians in their country to the U.S. Congress and appeal for help. Spreading the gospel Bibles & Bikes In India, church planters have faithfully spread the Gospel for years. They spread the Good News, knowing that they may be beaten and stoned for their faith. Most Indian church planters work by traveling on foot from village to village. By providing them with a new bike, they can double or even triple their effectiveness. Your gift to the Bibles and Bikes Project allows us to: $25 $200 Provide a church planter with 25 New Testaments Equip a church planter with a bike and 100 New Testaments $100 $1,000 Provide a church planter with a new bike Equip a team of 5 church planters with bikes and New Testaments 6 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Spreading the gospel Muslim World Outreach Throughout the world, particularly in the Middle East, followers of Islam are growing weary of their religion. They have witnessed the true nature of Islam at the hands of ISIS, Fulani militants, and other violent groups, and are not impressed. The growth of such radical groups has left many moderate Muslims searching for something more. In turn, this has produced fertile ground for the Church to grow. Evangelists and pastors have been working faithfully to spread the Gospel among those most eager to hear it. As a result, Muslims are turning to Christ in record numbers. Please consider joining us as we attempt to reach Muslim communities with the hope of Jesus. Through Christian radio broadcasts and the distribution of Bibles, the Gospel will continue to touch the hearts of those longing for more. Your gift to the Underground Pastors Fund allows us to: $75 $100 $700 Sponsor an evangelist for an outreach event that reaches hundreds of Muslims Sponsor a Gospel broadcast into Iran Support an underground pastor in Iran for 1 month 8 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

North Korea Radio ICC supports a radio station that broadcasts a daily Gospel program into North Korea. The program includes Scripture readings, Christian music and sermons by North Korean defector pastors. Your gift to the Broadcast North Korea Fund allows us to: $10 $250 Broadcast the Gospel into North Korea for 1 hour Sponsor 1 full week of broadcasts $1,000 Fund a 3-month broadcast Discipleship Follow-Up For many years, ICC has supported radio ministries that minister to and disciple some of the world s most unreached communities. By supporting these efforts, you will empower ICC to continue this difficult, yet vitally important, work. Your gift to the Broadcast Project X fund allows us to: $10 $250 Provide 10 New Testaments for believers in an undisclosed country Sponsor an underground pastor s ministry for 3 months $1,000 Fund a home church for an entire year To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 9

Hope house A crucial aspect of ICC s ministry is providing for the immediate needs of suffering believers, such as medical care and food. It is equally as important to address the root causes of persecution. In many persecuted communities, Christians are denied educational opportunities and relegated to lowpaying, menial jobs. For these reasons, ICC created Hope House. Hope House offers educational and vocational training to combat the underlying causes of persecution. The skills learned in these programs help students rise to the top of the employment pool, instead of being passed over because of their faith. Participants learn essential life skills in an environment safe from discrimination. Your gift to the Hope House Fund allows us to: $60 $100 $250 Provide educational materials to one child for a full year Sponsor the transportation of students to and from the center for 1 month Pay one teacher s salary for an entire year 10 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

New Life for Christian Families In Muslim-dominated cultures, Christians often lack access to the necessary capital to start their own businesses. They are also denied a quality education, so they become stuck as permanent members of the lower class. We provide small loans and training for affected Christians to start small businesses that allow them and their children to break out of poverty. After-School Tutoring Help a Christian child in Egypt break the cycle of generational poverty and marginalization by supporting our Hope House educational program. Children in the program receive tutoring, school supplies, and transportation, opening the door for them to secure quality jobs as adults. Women s Training Many Christian women are excluded from educational opportunities and community life, leaving them isolated and vulnerable. Our program empowers these women by providing vocational and educational training, as well as parenting guidance. They receive the skills necessary to support their families and inspire their children toward future success. To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 11

WOMEN Microfinance Loans Microfinance loans are one of the most effective ways to help persecuted Christians get back on their feet. The loans provide families with the means to start up their own small business without the burden of meeting all of the upfront costs on their own. In Egypt, we helped Sylvia, a mother of six, build a thriving business of customordered mats through one of these loans. After quickly paying back her loan, her business has only continued to flourish. Not only do these loans provide a sustainable source of income, they do so in a way that empowers persecuted families and maintains their dignity. Your gift to the Hope House Fund allows us to: $30 $190 $500 Provide supplies for 3 women attending vocational training Provide for a woman s vocational training on starting a small business Cover the average cost of a microfinance loan Sewing Training Ethnic Kachin believers have been heavily persecuted for decades in the primarily Buddhist nation of Myanmar. Many are displaced and hopeless. Your gift helps Kachin women learn how to sew so that they can support their families. Your gift to the Hand of Hope Far East Fund allows us to: $30 $360 $600 Provide 15 days of training for one woman Fully train a woman for 6 months Provide training for a class of 10 women for a month 12 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Vocational School The Vietnamese government heavily persecutes the Hmong ethnic group which is largely Christian. Many have fled to Thailand where they live in desperate poverty. We enable Hmong women to create and sell hand-sewn products as a sustainable way of providing for their families. Your gift to the Hand of Hope Far East Fund allows us to: $50 $300 Provide training materials for a woman s vocational training Provide a month of training for 30 women Pastors Wives Pastors are often persecuted because of their public stand for the Gospel. But what about the pastor s wife? These brave women are also in need of your support. You can help us provide for these courageous women as they support their husbands ministries. Your gift to the Hand of Hope South Asia Fund allows us to: Suggested Gift $200 Provide a pastor s wife with a small business to generate income To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 13

victim life & crisis response Attack Recovery In 2017, Pastor Yubak was beaten and left for dead in rural Nepal, forcing him to borrow money to pay the hospitals. By supporting the medical care of suffering believers, you will empower ICC to serve individuals like Pastor Yubak who are left physically and financially devastated by persecution. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $75 $500 Cover the average cost of first aid and medication for a month Sponsor the average cost of a minor surgical procedure Imprisoned Family Members After two Christians were jailed for exposing alleged Burmese military airstrikes that damaged a church, we helped sustain their families by providing livelihood and educational assistance. You can help provide for believers in similar situations and ensure their loved ones are taken care of when they are not there to provide. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $100 $500 Provide 1 month of boarding school Fund a farming project to generate food and income 14 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Food & Small Businesses Whether through immediate relief or long-term assistance, families that suffer severe persecution often need help rebuilding their lives. Your gift of food aid or business assistance provides that much needed hope for many persecuted families. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $200 $1,500 Stock part of a small business with income-generating supplies Fund a tuk-tuk (taxi) for a persecution victim to start their own business Victims of Blasphemy Accusations Blasphemy accusations in Pakistan are a serious, and sometimes deadly, matter. By providing safe houses for accused Christians and their families, ICC helps remind these believers that they are not alone. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $75 $350 Provide victims with a safe house to live in for two weeks Sponsor a family with food and housing for 1 month Food Assistance To drive Christianity out of a village, Hindu radicals in India institute social boycotts against Christians, restricting their access to many basic resources. Please join us as we provide critical food aid to these believers as they stand for their faith. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: Suggested Gift $100 Provide a family with 1 month of food aid To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 15

Kids Medical Assistance Sadly, children are often exposed to persecution. While we can t prevent attacks, it is our privilege to assist children as they recover physically and emotionally. In 2016, a young boy required surgery as a result of head injuries sustained during a church bombing in Indonesia. To obtain the professional help he needed, his family had to fly to Malaysia multiple times. ICC covered the cost of their international flights. Please continue to pray for him and other young victims of persecution. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $75 $500 $2,000 Cover the cost of first-aid and medication for 1 month Provide a minor surgical procedure Sponsor a major surgical procedure for a child victim Child Sponsorship Children of impoverished Christian families are especially vulnerable to persecution, and lack the opportunities and resources to improve their lives. Through sponsorship, you can provide an education and medical care to enable children to break the cycle of poverty. Your gift to the Kids Care Child Sponsorship Fund allows us to: Suggested Gift $30/month Sponsor a child in Egypt. We will connect you with a child and be in touch to set up monthly support. 16 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Education In 2013, suicide bombers attacked All Saints Church in Pakistan, resulting in utter devastation. Your gift will help ICC continue to pay for the education expenses of the children orphaned by this deadly attack. Your gift to the Kids Care Fund allows us to: $65 $150 Provide trauma counseling to a child victim of persecution Fund 2 months of a child s education Orphan Care Christian children in rural Myanmar receive a very poor education which dooms most of them to lifelong poverty. ICC supports a strong Christian orphanage to provide love and a quality education for them. Your gift to the Kids Care Fund allows us to: $175 $425 Give a child a home in the orphanage for 1 year Cover the orphanage s rent for 1 month, which houses 31 children To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 17

livelihood & livestock Economic Stability Blasphemy accusations in Pakistan leave Christian families devastated. Even after acquittal, the stigma of a blasphemy accusation forces believers to relocate and rebuild their lives from the ground up. You can partner with us to provide livelihoods that help these victims begin the difficult road to recovery. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $70 $500 $1,500 Provide a sewing machine for a seamstress Create a farming project for the family to generate food and income Provide a tuk-tuk (taxi) for a persecution victim Chicken Farms When a family loses their breadwinner to persecution, we provide small livelihood projects, allowing them to earn a sustainable income and keep their family intact. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $10 $100 Give 10 baby chickens to a deserving family Provide a flock of 100 chickens to start a chicken farm Cows, Goats, Pigs & Sheep The provision of cows, goats, pigs, and sheep represents much more than livestock to the recipients. These animals not only provide food for the family, but also income and the possibility of a stable future through the sale of their offspring. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $50 Provide one goat $200 Provide a small herd of sheep $120 Provide two pigs $200 Provide one cow 18 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Motorbikes & Boutiques The gift of a motorcycle changes the life of a family that loses its breadwinner to persecution. It serves as both a source of income and emergency transportation for the family. We have also provided widows with a small clothing boutique that allows them to get back on their feet financially. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Fund allows us to: $65 $700 $1,150 Cover the average cost of business permits and documents for 1 year Supply the inventory of a small clothing store Provide a motorcycle for a victim of persecution To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 19

Nigeria Rescue a Community For years, Boko Haram and Fulani militants have terrorized Nigeria s Christian community. 50,000 to 70,000 Christians have been murdered over the past 20 years, while 1-2 million have been left homeless. Most of these victims are farmers, so ICC rents land, plows it, and provides seed and fertilizer. Each of the 100+ acre farms feeds more than 500 victims and provides the adults with a source of income. Your gift to the Nigeria Crisis Fund allows us to: $30 $100 Give 1 Christian farmer a job, security, and food for a whole year Provide enough fertilizer for 5 acres Home Construction These same families that are left homeless become refugees in their own country. In especially tough cases, we provide them with a new home so that they have a safe place to sleep. Your gift to the Community Rebuild Fund allows us to: $800 $1,000 $1,200 Cover all of the roofing costs for a new home for a Christian family Provide all of the windows and doors in a new house Sponsor all of the labor costs of building a new house 20 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

The Lost Generation of Nigeria What happens to the kids of the millions of Nigerian Christians who have had their land stolen? They represent a lost generation in terms of education. A small gift can help provide education for a child in need and ensure that they don t fall permanently behind in their education. Your gift to the Kids Care Fund allows us to: $10 $30 $105 Give a child all the books they need for 1 year Cover 1 trimester of schooling for a child Provide books and 1 full year of schooling for a child Healing the Body & Mind Many believers have been physically and emotionally scarred by the ongoing persecution sweeping across Nigeria. By healing their bodies and minds, we are able to help them recover, while demonstrating Christ s love at one of the most difficult times in their lives. Your gift to the Suffering Wives and Children Nigeria Fund allows us to: $100 $500 Give food and proper nutrition for a family for 1 month Cover the average cost of a surgery in Nigeria To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 21

iraq Rebuilding Infrastructure When ISIS occupied the primarily Christian town of Qaraqosh in 2014, they left a trail of death, destruction, and debris in their wake. Now that ISIS is driven out, residents are gradually returning home in the hopes of rebuilding their lives. Upon returning home, a Christian named Milad was surprised to discover that ISIS had created a tunnel system below his farm. Among other paraphernalia, a mine was located within this network of tunnels, meant to discourage him and others from reclaiming their land. With the help of donors, the mine was removed and ICC filled the tunnels so Milad could restart his farm. This renovated farm restored a sustainable source of income for Milad and his family. We are not only restoring life to destroyed farmland, but also restoring life among communities in need. Clean Water Wells When ISIS retreated from the Nineveh Plains, they destroyed infrastructure to discourage displaced Christians from returning. When you join us in repairing wells, you are helping to foil ISIS attempt to eradicate Christianity from Iraq. Each well quenches the thirst of at least 10 families and provides them with water for basic household needs. Your gift to the Community Rebuild Middle East Refugees Fund allows us to: $50 $100 $200 Pay for the water used for well-digging Cover the price of a pump for the well Sponsor all plumbing and piping for the well 22 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted

Small Businesses Iraq s Christians are industrious and innovative entrepreneurs, but ISIS forced many to flee and intentionally damaged their small businesses. We are helping displaced Christians rebuild their businesses and providing the tools necessary for them to earn a sustainable income again. Your gift to the Community Rebuild Middle East Refugees Fund allows us to: $120 $200 $1,000 Provide an A/C unit for a small business Build out shelving for a shop Provide a tuk-tuk for a Christian to start a taxi service Medical Outreach The disabled and elderly suffer severe health effects as a result of their displacement. Our medical outreach program empowers local partners to provide medical care for elderly Christians, and those with disabilities or chronic health conditions. Your gift to the Community Rebuild Middle East Refugees Fund allows us to: $15 $130 $1,000 Provide first aid and medicine for a patient Cover 1 year s supply of medicine and vitamins for a non-chronic patient Sponsor one month s salary for a doctor who is treating victims of ISIS To Give: www.persecution.org/christmas 23

Jeff King s latest, life-changing book, The Last Words of the Martyrs, My work over the last 15 years has dealt with the violent underbelly of the world. Islamic terrorists, Marxist governments, and social crusaders continually oppress, torture, and kill those we call brother and sister in an attempt to preserve or improve the purity of their culture, faith, or land. If you look at this through a biblical lens, it is quite clearly a war between two kingdoms. I would dearly love to see an end to this war with its hatred and murder of Christians, but unfortunately it s not a war that can be won. Jesus promised that those who hold his name dear would be hated and persecuted in this world. He said, If they hated me, they will hate you. What Jesus spoke 2,000 years ago still holds true today; this war is a permanent fixture of this dispensation and its victims are found throughout the non-western world. Their life-and-death struggle remains largely hidden from you by a press that practically refuses to cover the issue. Like many wars, this one seems tipped in favor of the Kingdom of Darkness, with the Kingdom of God on the losing end but that s only when you look at the surface. The Kingdom of God is advancing throughout the world, often at a great cost, and my organization works on the front lines of this battle. As with all wars, this one has exposed the best and worst of humanity. Those who attack the followers of Jesus are often extremely violent and display the worst qualities of humanity. The victims, the apparent losers in the battle, are persecuted Christians. They display the highest levels of courage, selflessness, and devotion to God while enduring pressure that would cause the average human being to shrivel and die. In this book, you will be introduced to these victims and their stories. They have taught me so much over the years of serving them is available for pre-order today. and I always felt that these special believers had a hidden message for the Western Church. I felt an insistent push from the Lord to listen to their message as one who has ears to hear. Little did I know that, while serving them, I would discover what I consider to be the greatest secret of our Christian journey and perhaps the antidote for Western Christianity. Your Journey Begins I suspect that in your life, you are continually trying to follow the footsteps of your master as you climb a path that winds its way up the mountain of your spiritual journey. If you are like me, you probably find that those footsteps are often hidden by the clouds that hover around the mountain and almost never lift. My journey with the persecuted Church blew away these clouds and showed me God s upward path. For the first time, I saw the final destination at the top of the mountain. The following book is my feeble attempt to show you a few profound, but simple truths that were revealed to me as I served the persecuted. I hope and pray that you will look beyond my writing so as to hear God s voice guiding you on your journey. I hope to clear away the clouds around the mountain so you too will see His upward path and the endpoint of your spiritual journey that all too often appears random and chaotic. The journey I m about to take you on will be very difficult, especially if you have a sensitive heart. But, I urge you not to turn away from those who are the suffering body of Jesus. I think you will find, as I have, that while these stories are centered on death and suffering, their hidden message is all about life the real life that you desperately thirst for. The life that the Lord longs to bring to you. Jeff King International Christian Concern 24 2018 Gifts for the Persecuted
