WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 1 READ EXODUS 3:1 TO 4:5 What question does the Lord ask Moses in 4:2? How did Moses answer the question? What did the Lord do with what was in Moses hand?
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 1 God knew what was in Moses hand. What was God showing Moses through this question and the events that follow? Do you think it is possible that this question is meant to lead Moses to the answer he asked for in Exodus 4:1?
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 2 WRITE OUT THE SCRIPTURE QUESTION FROM EXODUS 4:2 God is asking Moses what is in his hand. All throughout the Bible and still today, God uses people and their resources, gifts, and talents for His glory. The question what is that in your hand? could refer to your own resources, gifts, and talents. With these things in mind, how would you answer this same question if it was asked of you today? What does the Lord tell Moses to do in Exodus 3:10? How does Moses respond (Exodus 3:11)? How was Moses feeling?
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 2 Have you ever felt like God was specifically calling you to something, like He was saying Go I am sending you? If so, how did you respond? What is the first thing the Lord said to answer Moses question? {Exodus 3:12} How does this encourage you when God calls you to something uncomfortable? Close today in prayer, thanking God that He is with us in everything.
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 3 LET S LOOK AT ANOTHER STORY IN THE BIBLE WHERE GOD USED WHAT WAS IN SOMEONE S HANDS. READ MATTHEW 15:29-39 What was the problem? How were Jesus disciples feeling? What did they have available and how did Jesus use it? In both stories, Moses and the disciples were obedient to what the Lord asked. The Lord used them and what was in their hands to perform miracles.
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 3 Ask yourself, am I being obedient with what God has given me and asked of me? Ask the Holy Spirit to show you area s where He is asking you to walk in obedience. READ DEUTERONOMY 5:33 How does this verse encourage you to walk in obedience?
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 4 MAKE IT YOUR OWN! Using a Bible Concordance, Google or a Bible search, find Scriptures about Obedience. Read through some verses and then choose the one that speaks to you most today. WRITE THE VERSE HERE: Where is it found? (Its Reference - Example: John 3:16) What translation did you use? (Examples: NIV, NLT, ESV) Write down why you chose this verse and be ready to share in your group:
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 4 If you are able, look the verse you chose up in www.biblehub.com and read it in the many different versions this site offers. Using this study tool, you will see the same verse using different words and phrases. This can help you to gain a better understanding of the verse. If in doing this, there is another version of this same verse that speaks in a deeper way to you, write it out here. Think of a way to move this Obedience Scripture off the homework page and into your daily life this week. You can do this by putting it in front of you in some way to remember it often - making it your screensaver, writing it on a 3x5 card, posting it on your mirror, in your car etc. The key to tapping the Spiritual Power in the Word of God is first of all believing it and secondly obeying it ~ Pastor Doug Bergsma
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 5 READ 1 PETER 4:1-11 WRITE OUT 1 PETER 4:10: Reread this verse 2 times. What do you think this passage is saying to you personally today? Rewrite it in a way that makes it a personal direction for you putting your name into it.
WEEK 2 / WHAT S IN YOUR HAND? DAY 5 In what ways are you now, or could you use what s in your hand to serve the body of Christ? NOTE: If you would like some ideas on areas you might like to serve please connect with your Connect Circle or Study Leaders. SPEND SOME TIME IN WORSHIP AND PRAY Listen to Broken Things by Matthew West https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrifndhqqty End with a written prayer of anything that fills your heart today concerning Obedience. (Praise, Thanks, Confession, or a Request of God)
