These include but are not limited to May Day, Mother s Day, National Day of Prayer, Memorial Day, Graduation, Birthdays, and Anniversaries. On these days we are reminded to put others before self in kindness, prayer, and thanks. Although each of these is important in its own way, one day that stands out for me is Pentecost Sunday one not noted on a general calendar. In the Methodist Church this is celebrated on May 15 th this year. Come, Holy Spirit, Come. I would hope that each of us allow the Holy Spirit to guide us daily in all that we do. We need it to begin with us our churches and our GRACE community. Teams are being formed for the walks this fall and have already been covered in prayer. Prayers are being lifted for pilgrims known and unknown at this time as well. One thing you can do whether you served on the walk team is to pray. It is a vital part of each walk. Take time as you pray for the upcoming walks and revival in your churches and communities. Remember the prayer to the Holy Spirit shared before each talk on your walk, which is also the opening prayer at your reunion group? Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy Your consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. I m looking forward to seeing you in Van at 10:00 on June 18 th for our next gathering. All you have to bring is yourself. Brunch is being provided by the Van 4 th dayers. Come Holy Spirit Come. DeColores, Karol Johnston ** Don't forget the REUNION GROUP CHALLENGE! Has you group raised/donated at least $50.00? This is to help offset the increase cost of Camp Gilmont. ** We would like to update our Reunion Group list. Please have a contact person send the name of your group, an email address for the group, a phone number for the group,

and day/time they meet. Send them to: Karol Johnston PO Box 1126 Van, Texas 75790 OR johnston_karol @yahoo.com ** There is still time to turn in your application to work in the fall. People are always needed to be "backups." Such as flashlight or even streetlights, so when traveling in the night they would attach lamps to their feet in order to light the path in front of them. That s what God s word is to us, a light upon my path. One of the legs in living a life in grace is study. If we continue to study God s word, he will show us the direction he wants us to go in life. He will teach us how to follow the Son. DeColorus Brett Walker (note from the editor) Because of technical problems, this newsletter was not sent out before team selection. Even if you have not gotten your application in you can come in any time and work with the background team. It is also never too early to send in your applications for the spring walks **Mark your calendar for Brunch on June 18th - Van UMC - 10:00. ** There is a possibility that we will be adding a "Security Team" to our walks. People will sign up to serve shifts for 2-3 hours. Gilmer doesn't have such an easy access like Disciples Crossing does from the highway and often there are other groups at the camps when we are there. Look for further information on how to serve in this manner if you are not on the inside conference team. This is an extension of the outside team. FOOD FOR THOUGHT Most of us are familiar with the song Thy word is lamp upon my feet. This song is based on Psalm 109:105. We sing it but have you ever wondered what it means? During this time, they didn t have the modern conveniences The Team Selection Committee has received a good number of applications for the Fall Walks 78 and 79. The Lay Directors, Jeannie Hanssen and Jay Edwards, have already have been hard at work preparing for the best Walks ever. If you have been considering working on one of these Walks, I encourage you to go ahead and submit your application. If you need help with the application process, please feel free to contact me and I will help you with it. The Team Selection Committee will be meeting on May 19 to make their recommendations to the Board, so don t delay. I can be reached at 903.987.3090 or at brettfcall@gmail.com. Also, we never want to miss someone who wants to serve, so in an effort to confirm that your application has been received, please send me a brief email that you have submitted one, and I will be sure that you are on the list. DeColores SPONSORSHIP Peace and greetings to all. What a success the spring Walks were! The end result was a group of recommitted and remotivated brothers and sisters in Christ. Their enthusiasm was still evident during the recent Babe Chick gathering, held in Kilgore. Thank you to the sponsors for listening to God as you sought out and prepared these pilgrims. It is already time to begin praying about the next set of Walks, the teams and future pilgrims. Team selection happens in May, which means the Fall Walks will be here before we know it. As you pray, keep in mind the following: pray for God s guidance to lead you as a sponsor; pray that, if so led to be a sponsor, you are led to a pilgrim who is hungry for more in their Christian life; pray now for the strength and unity of the teams that will conduct the

Walks; pray that the pilgrims will have open minds and hearts that are ready for a more intimate relationship with God; pray that you are able to commit yourself to all of the obligations of sponsorship. As Fourth Dayers, the second most important thing we do is to be a sponsor and to use discernment inn doing so. The most important thing we can do, whether a Fourth Dayers or not, is to always be in prayer for ourselves and those around us to be in closer relationship with Jesus Christ. For those of you who have new Fourth Dayers in your congregation or reunion group, be a mentor to those who are feeling led to be a sponsor and have not done so before, or have not done so in a long time. Give them God-led guidance and advice so that the next Walk experience is a positive one for both new pilgrims and new sponsors. Remember, without responsible sponsors there are no pilgrims and we have done less than commanded about making disciples in all the world. I highly recommend you purchase the pamphlet SPONSORSHIP ($5), prepared by the Upper Room Emmaus offices to familiarize, refamiliarize, yourself with all of the facets of being a sponsor. Doing so can only serve to make the experience better for both you and your pilgrim. DE COLORES! Agape Gifts On your walk, you experienced love and blessings poured out on your pillow & at your place at the dining table in the form of Agape Gifts. Each agape gift is meant to draw us closer to Jesus and make our hearts smile with His love and provision. These gifts were provided by members of the G.R.A.C.E. Emmaus Community members just like YOU! You think you can t do anything creative, think again! Check out the ideas that can be found on the North Indiana Emmaus Community s website at https://www.niemma us.com/agape/... Some great idea can be found here. Please consider beginning the making of Agape Gifts for our upcoming GRACE EMMAUS Walk #78 & #79 for Fall, 2016. We need to have 72 of each item for each walk, but if you want you can pick up the extras on Sunday. Just write a note to the outside team that you want the extras back. This way you can just add to them for the next walk. If you need someone to take these Agape Gifts to either of the walks, just let me know. Pam Martin Agape Gifts Board Rep. (903)520-3975 The Board has suggested that we add a security team for the upcoming walks. This team will watch over the dorms while they are unoccupied. We will have more info as the walks get closer.
