Welcome to Faith We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, gay, filthy rich, or dirt poor. We extend a special welcome to those who are crying new-borns, skinny as a rail or could afford to lose a few pounds. We welcome you if you can sing like an angel or can t carry a note in a bucket. You re welcome here if you re just browsing, just woke up or just got out of jail. We don t care if you re an expert in doing church, or haven t been in church since little Joey s Baptism. We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome soccer moms, NASCAR dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, and junkfood eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you re having problems or you re down in the dumps or if you don t like organized religion, we ve been there too. If you blew all your offering money at the track, you re welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don t work, can t spell, or because grandma is in town and wanted to go to church. We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down your throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts and you!

Worship Service Greeting: Call to Worship: (Standing, Responsive) ELDER ELDER Pastor: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! People: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's (Psalm 103:1-5). Hymn of Praise: No. 345(Standing, Congregation) Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken Glorious things are said of you, O city of God. Psalm 87:3 God s Word Examines Our Hearts: (Seated) ELDER So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin (Romans 7:21-25). Confession of Sin: (Seated, Unison) ELDER Gracious Father, all law demands perfection. Even the laws I make for myself to be the ultimate parent, the ultimate employee, the ultimate spouse, or the ultimate church member still force me to bear the weight of my sin and the consequences of my imperfection. No law, yours or mans, can deliver the perfection it demands. Tear down my house of cards and show me my perfect acceptance in The Beloved this and every morning, I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Silently Confessing Our Personal Sins: (Seated) Assurance of Pardon: (Seated) ELDER There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1-4). Hymn of Assurance: No. 172 (Standing, Congregation) Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by this blood to him be glory And power for ever and ever! Revelation 1:5, 6 Worship of God through Tithes & Offerings: (Seated) Prayer for Faith, San Antonio, and the World: (Seated) Reading God s Word: (Standing) KEITH HOWARD Leviticus 3: The Salvation Offering If his offering is a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offers an animal from the herd, male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord. 2 And he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and kill it at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and Aaron s sons the priests shall throw the blood against the sides of the altar. 3 And from the sacrifice of the peace offering, as a food offering to the Lord, he shall offer the fat covering the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 4 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins, and the long lobe of the liver that he shall

remove with the kidneys. 5 Then Aaron s sons shall burn it on the altar on top of the burnt offering, which is on the wood on the fire; it is a food offering with a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 16 All fat is the Lord s. 17 It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places, that you eat neither fat nor blood. Proclaiming the Word of the Lord: (Seated) KEITH HOWARD Leviticus: Seeing Jesus in the Law God Communes with Us in the Lord s Supper: (Seated) Preparing for the Lord s Supper: KEITH HOWARD Words of Institution: Partaking of the Bread, Partaking of the Cup Communion, also called The Lord s Supper, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committed followers of Jesus Christ to partake of this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation which proclaims the gospel, who are at peace with God and with their neighbor, and who seek strength to live more faithfully for Christ. If you are not a Christian, or if you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with His people, the church. Baptized children of an age appropriate to understand the preached Word who have been admitted to the Supper by the leadership of a congregation that proclaims the Gospel, or who have been admitted to the table by our Session, are invited to partake. Please see a member of the Session for information on communing membership for your children. Both wine and grape juice are offered for communion. The wine is served in the outer ring of the communion trays and the center rings contain juice. After the Lord s Supper, elders will be available at the front of the auditorium for prayer or to respond to questions. Communion Prayers Prayer for Those Searching for Truth: Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth and the life. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding for you that is coherent, convincing, and leads to the life that you promise. Amen. Prayer of Belief: Lord, Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through you, I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared to hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my savior. Amen. Prayer of Struggling Against Sin: Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my needs, and may turn from every false satisfaction to find complete satisfaction in you. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely to me, and run with perseverance the race that you have set before me, looking only to you, the pioneer and champion of my faith. Amen. Hymn of Parting: No. 523 (Standing, Congregation) My Hope Is in the Lord Christ in you, the hope of glory. Col 1:27
