POSITIVELY GROUNDED IN THE OLD CAR HOBBY March 2017 A Note from the President Greetings to all! I don t know about you folks, but I m ready for spring. I was just thinking: Failed relationship is much like Algebra in a way have you ever looked at your X and wondered Y? I couldn t help but think about the failed relationship between our National AACA Club and the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA. This is truly an unfortunate situation. I suspect most never knew they were separate entities, nor were we aware of conflict between the two? Each of us, as members of AACA, has received a letter regarding this issue; and as president of the Des Moines Region, I received a couple of additional letters requesting funds to help continue operations. You should know that your Board, after a brief discussion, declined to send additional monies over and above our membership dues; this decision was unanimous. Since then, more letters and magazine articles have arrived stating the purpose, intent and positions of each. It appears by our recent AACA publication that they have parted ways exercising the only feasible solution. It sounds like the new plan is to build a facility to display autos? After twisting his arm a little, Don Broman agreed to share with us at our March 20th church dinner, some info on one of his hobbies. He has done several wood working projects in different venues his church, fishing equipment, yard ornaments and model cars, etc.) He informed me that his presentation will take a total of five minutes, as he may zero in on just one area. I tried to negotiate with him for six minutes we ll see? I did observe one of his fishing treble hooks (I think that is what they call it), and beautiful it is! Please mark your calendar for the 20th of March and plan to join us for the last dinner this winter at the church. Thank you. Choose to have a good day today, Harve Sympathies The board just received word that Betty Borst, Buck s wife, passed away Friday, Feb. 24th while they were in Arizona. Details for funeral services are still being finalized. Please keep the Borsts in your thoughts and prayers. 2017 Board PRESIDENT - Harvey Baker 641-583-3453 hk33baker@gmail.com VICE-PRESIDENT - Scott Diehn - 457-9932 stdiehn@msn.com SECRETARY - Julie West 360-9176 julie@pcgmarketing.com TREASURER - Wayne Brill 971-2546 w.brill@mchsi.com Dean Bibler - 229-9453 deanbibler@gmail.com Bill German - 277-7397 David Libby - 225-6261 brojodblib@aol.com $ Financials As of 02/07/17 - $1,717.20 Jack McWilliams - 289-2630 jackandbess7@gmail.com Dick Roth 515-537-0252 dickroth19@gmail.com Nora Schlenker - 229-4749

Feb. 4th The club had a tasty lunch at Smokey D s then visited the Brass Armadillo. February 20th Potluck David Holzinger gave a good talk on old radios and his friend David Pottabaum assisted. They also had boxes of old car parts for people to look through, try to identify and take whatever they wanted. They shared the story that when items were purchased through Craigslist, part of the deal included taking these extra boxes as well. As you can see the group enjoyed looking.
