Jesus said, In those days, after that suffering, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. Then he will send out the angels, and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come. Advent Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 10 10 a.m. A festival of Nine Advent Lessons and Carols was introduced in 1918 to bring a more imaginative approach to worship. In the Anglican tradition of preparation for Christmas, the service includes Advent carols and readings from the Bible. Trinity Episcopal Parish is proud to present our choir singing beautiful Advent hymns, as well as, our handbell choir. All interspersed with readings from the Bible.

Advent & Christmas @ Trinity Advent The season of Advent begins December 3. Advent is a time when we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ. It is meant to be a time of reflection and a time set aside to renew our connection to Christ. Names for the Messiah: An Advent Study - Sundays - 9 am "In Isaiah 9:6, a divine utterance is given to us using four royal titles--wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Names for the Messiah ponders each title and how the people understood it then, how Jesus did or did not fulfill the title, and how Christians interpret Jesus as representative of that title." Please join the Rev. Meghan Holland for this 3-Sunday, Advent series, starting on December 3rd at 9 a.m. Using Walter Brueggemann's text of the same title, Mo. Meghan will prepare your heart for Christmas morning and keep you mindful of Christ's many-faceted presence in your life during this season of preparation. Reading/purchasing the book is NOT required. An Advent Intergenerational Program - Wednesdays - 6:00 pm Starting Wednesday, Nov. 29, join us after Wednesday evening dinner as we gather as a church family for a relaxed and leisurely time and journey together through the Advent season with food, play, stories, and prayer. Lessons and Carols - Sunday December 10-10 am Lessons & Carols services in the Anglican tradition began in 1878 and was formalized as a Christmas service in 1880 by the Bishop of Truro, later Archbishop of Canterbury, Edward Benson. An Advent version of the service normally carried out as a procession with lessons and carols developed slightly later at King s College and is now celebrated around the world, normally as an evening service on the first or second Sunday in the season of Advent. During the service, scriptural readings are interspersed with choral presentations and hymn, all of which recall mankind s longing for liberation from sin and death, and our hope and expectation for the both the first and second coming of Christ the Lord. A beautiful service not to be missed! Saturday, December 23: Contemplative Advent Eucharist, 5 pm Join us to light the advent wreath and the Christmas spirit with a quiet reflective service prior to your holiday festivities. Christmas Eve (NO MORNING SERVICES) Holy Eucharist with Children's Pageant - 4 pm A favorite family Christmas service! All children in attendance are invited to participate in a Christmas Children's Pageant. Angels, Mary, Joseph, and yes even the stable animals will be present to celebrate Jesus' birth.
