Jamie's Journal Fall is here! This past Tuesday, the season officially began for 2014. The Fall weather gives those who are able a chance to get out of the house and accomplish some yard work and other chores in a cooler and more comfortable environment. Cooler days allow for opportunities to do certain things that hot summer weather often discourages. As we ponder the things we can do, shouldn't we also consider how much work we can do for the Lord during this time? Could we be using the blessing of cooler weather to knock on doors and invite folks to services to hear about Christ? Or can we rake leaves for a widow, take a disabled person on town errands, or even hand out Bible tracts on a hiking path? The opportunities are numerous and the harvest is ready! Are you ready to labor for the Lord? There was once a man that remained idle at the start of a season. Rather than going out to battle as the other kings did, David stayed home (II Sam. 11:1). After waking up one day from a late afternoon nap and taking a lazy stroll, he committed sins that would bring terrible consequences on him and on many others, as we know the rest of the biblical account. Brethren, when we're involved in the work of the Lord, it is a lot harder for us to sin against Him. Let us consider the old saying, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop," and strive to always be abounding in the work of the Lord. Our Lord said that we should pray for laborers to send out into the harvest, and let us also pray that He will make you and me a laborer for Him this Fall. To God be the glory! Jamie
