WEDNESDAY June 1 Constructing the Game Field Thursday June 2 Playing with Purpose Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Have you ever heard someone talk about life as a game? In order to play a game, you must have a playing area a field or court. In the beginning, God built the game field the earth and He got it ready for the players you and all other people. But life is more than a game. God created you for a purpose: to know Him and give Him glory. The Creator of the universe wants to have a personal relationship with you. How cool! Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Have you ever been sitting in math class and thought, What s the point? Why am I doing all these math problems? Understanding why you have to study math might be difficult, but one thing s for sure: You ve been made by God to be a part of this world. When life doesn t make sense, remember that God wouldn t have given you life if He didn t have a plan for you. God didn t make a mistake when He made you. Friday June 3 Creator Coach Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground. Think of a great athlete. Did he always play like he plays today? Could he dunk a basketball while wearing diapers or break an NFL tackle as a toddler? No way! Even the best athletes are taught by a coach. In life, God is your Creator and coach. He designed life, so He knows all about it. When you need instruction, turn to God s Word. Saturday June 4 Training for the Game Proverbs 1:23 If you turn to my discipline, then I will pour out my spirit on you and teach you my words. You ve never heard a coach say, Get out there and eat as many donuts as you can, or Let s see who can walk around the field the slowest. That would be crazy! Discipline means training, and good coaches seek to train their players to be better players. Your life coach God has your best in mind as He seeks to train you. Turn your ears to Him. You can t achieve God s best unless you follow His leading. Bible Express Lance King wrote the devotions for June 1-15. He is pastor of First Baptist Church in Flat, Texas.!B.5
