DIOCESE OF SPRINGFIELD LENTEN REGULATIONS 1. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of abstinence from meat as well as days of fast, when only one full meal is allowed. On days of fast two other meatless meals may be taken according to one s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. 2. The other Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat. 3. The obligation to abstain from meat begins at fourteen (14) years of age. 4. The obligation to fast begins at eighteen (18) years of age and ends at fifty-nine (59) years of age. 5. Although the faithful may excuse themselves for a just cause from these laws of fast and abstinence, there is an obligation to substitute another penance and no Catholic should lightly excuse himself/herself from this obligation in the Lenten season. BEST LENT EVER It is a free email program that will guide you on an incredible journey toward the bestversion- of- yourself. From Ash Wednesday to Easter, you'll discover ways to transform your life in Forty Days. https://dynamiccatholic.com/best-lent-ever We encourage you to clip and save for future worship. Prayer for Strength Father in Heaven, I am weary. I am tired. My energy is sagging and my motivation is low. Especially today, I need Your love to get my life back on track. In Psalm 28:7 I read that You are my strength and my shield. Please help me say no when I am tempted to surrender to the easy way. Please help me to say yes to Your will and Your way. Hear this prayer, oh Lord, that I pray in Your holy name, Amen. STEWARDSHIP SANDWICH MINISTRY DONATIONS Sr. Melinda is once again seeking donations of individually wrapped cookies, small candy bars, Tootsie rolls, lollipops, granola, and packs of peanut butter crackers for the candy bags that our parish is providing to Holy Cross to enhance their Sandwich Ministry for the homeless. Any of these items that you can provide is warmly appreciated! The OPEN PANTRY is very much in need of the following food items (their shelves are more empty than they should be at this time) - Oatmeal or Hot Cereal, Peanut Butter, Canned meats and Spaghetti Sauce But please, we ask that you do not bring any: Perishables of any kind (bread, potatoes, fresh vegetables, etc.) Pick-ups are not done every week, so any items like this will go bad.
