So many events and activities and so little time! Special thanks go to Herb Blakeman and Sarah Reeves for their tremendous efforts in making the Beach Party a huge success. And to John May for setting up the sound system. And to Mitch Borders for the help he provided. Although the weather wasn t very cooperative, the grilling team led by Jesse Mayes, and Scot Reeves persevered and dinner was served with the help of Valda May, Patsy Blakeman and Pam Gilkerson in the kitchen. Cornhole, Jenga, dancing, and fine fellowship rounded out the evening. Music united our voices and hearts at the Hymn Sing. The Father-Daughter duo of Jesse Mayes and Jessica Mayes delighted us. We thank John May for planning this service and for his enthusiastic leadership in the congregational singing. We worshiped in song, and in spirit, and in readings of meditation before gathering in Kearns Hall for a fellowship meal. I suspect Valda May, Susan Slusher, Hope Spoonamore, Thelma Finch, Patsy Blakeman, and Karalee Cain who served as the kitchen crew are exhausted, but we owe them a debt of gratitude for a fine job of coordinating two meals in as many days. What s next? July brings a new list of frenzy events and those are posted in this issue of The Current. I hope you will peruse it and see what you want to sign up for this month. Our newer members are joining us for various classes, workshops, and activities, and this is a great way to nurture new friendships while maintaining old ones. God is watering the garden at Liberty Elementary School and I understand produce is being produced and will be ready for picking soon. If you have

There was sand, compliments of Mr. Sandman, Herb Blakeman, with assistance from Mitch Borders; there were pools of water to soak your feet in; there was/were cornhole, badminton, beach ball volleyball, horseshoes, croquet, ping pong, and Jenga. Hotdogs and hamburgers were prepared by Jesse Mayes, with assistance from Scot Reeves. Valda May and Pam Gilkerson organized the rest of the delicious food. AND, the dance was a hoot! We did the twist, the limbo, the chicken dance, the electric slide, the cha-cha slide, the hokey pokey, the bunny hop, AND the Virginia Reel. With Jack Pattie spinning the tunes, we had a great time! Join us in October when we have our next dance...the MONSTER MASH!

Last week I saw Herb several times because he was over at Kearns Hall working on getting things set up for the Beach Party. He wanted to make it special! Silver and Jean live at 1617 Information for our Fourth of July Picnic For those of you who have signed up, be sure to mark your calendar for the Summer Frenzy July 4 th Picnic that will be held on Wednesday, July 4 th at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Dr. Carolyn Purcell. (Please note that this was originally advertised as 4:30, but that time is incorrect. It has been changed to 6:00 p.m.) Bring a chair if you want to stay for fireworks on the causeway around 9:45 p.m. Directions to 2109 Island Drive -Come out Lakeshore Drive past Henry Clay High School across the causeway onto the Island. -After the guardhouse, you will cross a little bridge; -Take an immediate right onto Island Drive. -2109 Island Drive is the third house on the left counting the house on the corner. You may park on only one side of the street. There is room for about 15 cars in the driveways. Please use those places. Your cars will be safer. Habitat for Humanity House Build There is still room for helpers at the Habitat House on Friday July 6, 8:30 am 3:30 pm. There is a signup sheet on the table outside the church office. Lunch and drinks will be provided. There will be several different jobs that need to be done. Leaders will be there to show you how and what needs to be done. They will be there for help all day as needed. This is a fun and rewarding experience. Details on where to follow via e-mail. Please sign up by Sunday July 1 st. Living Water International Even though we will not collect money for Living Water International until October, we want to remind everyone to be sure to fill up your cup with change. If you need another cup, they are available on the table under the Missions bulletin board in the hallway. Every little bit helps with this much needed ministry. Water is something we take for granted each and every day. Many of us buy bottled for our convenience. We probably waste more water than people in other countries have to drink on a daily basis. Please keep this in mind and give as generously as you can.
