Worship Services 8:00 am Traditional Worship Our Traditional Worship service offers traditional liturgies and utilizes an organ or piano to provide our music through hymnody. 10:30 am Contemporary Worship Our Contemporary Worship service offers a relaxed environment that uses a blend of liturgies and free worship styles. This service also features our Kids Ministry Time, a fun and relevant teaching time for ages 0-2 (Tiny Disciples) and ages 3-grade 3 (Kids Ministry) during the Message. Children in Worship We welcome and encourage children to attend our worship services at First Lutheran wiggles, giggles, squirms and all! We even plan to have them with us! Our Contemporary Service (10:30) offers child-friendly liturgies and practices, a Children s Message, an age-appropriate teaching time for them to enjoy. Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children." Matthew 19:14 Sermon on the Mount In this service for Week 3 of Lent, we recognize that so much of our lives, even in Lent, is spent worrying about what might happen or what has happened. Christ teaches us to stop being anxious, but simply to trust that he knows what is best and will take care of us to the very end. In this service for Week 4 of Lent, we recognize that we live in a very judgmental world, so Jesus advice not to judge sounds radical to our modern ears. When we leave all judgment up to God, we free ourselves to look at one another through fresh and forgiving eyes. In this service for Week 5 of Lent, we recognize that we build our lives on very shaky foundations, and then we are surprised when things start collapsing. Jesus reminds us in his teachings that the only solid foundation is himself, the Rock of our salvation. On him alone we build.

Holy Communion at First Lutheran Church Worship at First Lutheran includes a celebration of Communion twice per month, typically the 1 st and 3 rd Sundays of the month. We believe Holy Communion is a special gift of God for our benefit. As a commitment to biblical integrity, communion is reserved for: Baptized Christians (Acts 2:37-38) Those who recognize and confess their sins (Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:8) Those who believe the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is offered in, with and under forms of bread and wine (1 Corinthians 10:16, 11:27) Those who accept Jesus words: Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:28) All those who share these biblical beliefs are encouraged to join with us and participate in Communion at First Lutheran. For those who have questions regarding these beliefs and practices, please contact Pastor (pastormark@firstlutheran-paola.org or 913.731.6137). White grape juice is available on the communion tray for those with special needs. Children who have not been confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod should speak with Pastor before taking communion First Lutheran Church Office Hours: Monday Friday 8:30am 4:00pm 401 E Piankishaw + Paola, KS + 66071 913.294.3476 www.firstlutheran-paola.org office@firstlutheran-paola.org Rev.
