Pastor-Lee Thoughts It s July! The year is half over already. Can you believe it? This month we celebrate our country s independence. The 4 th of July Independence Day is a very special day to remember all the men and women that have given their life and/or limbs to give us the freedoms we have in this country. It s a fun day to celebrate with fireworks and our favorite foods. We should be so thankful for their sacrifices. One of the most popular Patriotic songs of our country is America (My Country Tis of Thee). It was written in 1832 by the Rev. Samuel F. Smith. A couple of the stanzas are as follows: My country, 'tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty Of thee I sing; Land where my fathers died, Land of the pilgrims' pride, From every mountain side Let Freedom ring. Our fathers' God to Thee, Author of Liberty, To thee we sing, Long may our land be bright With Freedom's holy light, Protect us by thy might Great God, our King. The lyrics printed above can inspire us as well as give us a sense of thankfulness for what we have in this country. Our country s Constitution and Bill of Rights give us freedom to worship our God. We are so blessed to have this freedom. There are many people throughout our world that are being persecuted for their belief in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Many people do not tolerate nor understand what Jesus means to these Christians. Let us all pray for all those that are persecuted that God may continue to give them strength in their relationship with him and that they may experience the freedom we have. So, let us, in this month of Independence thank God for the real freedom that we have not just the opportunity to worship God without government interference but the freedom that we have in our relationship with Christ. That is something we can really celebrate! God bless, Pastor Lee MEN S FELLOWSHIP GROUP The Daytimers will not be meeting over the summer.
