WYM Feedback from Overseas Participants. (2018) Prak Sopheak Royal University of Phnom Penh World Youth Meeting 2018: The Meaning of Well-being I. Preparation for the Presentation The preparation of our team presentation was separated into two stages: online and on-site preparation. In terms of online preparation, the process within our team had been interrupted with a few obstacles such as technical errors, schedule conflicts and language barrier. However, everyone had been very understanding and helpful. Because the concept of well-being is very new to me, the team was very nice in providing me with information and guided questions for my research. We had a good time discussing the presentation topic via Skype, and despite some inconveniences, we managed to finish most of our presentation before our meeting in Japan. Upon the arrival in Japan, our preparation process became smoother and more productive. During that time, I witnessed the great contribution from every single team member. Rina, Chihiro, and Kazuto were passionate in explaining the situation in Japan to us. Mayo provided great suggestions and expanded our knowledge of the Philippines and its culture while at the same time, created laughter in the team. Rose was wonderful in being the interpreter in the team communication, the cheerleader who always reminded us to relax when we were stressed out, and the member who gave constructive advice to the team. I absolutely value the teamwork we had both during the presentation preparation and the

rehearsals where everyone enthusiastically helped corrected pronunciation and gave comments to each other. I am also grateful for the kind assistance from Gary sensei in checking our slides and content; without his help, we would not have been able to correct our mistakes and improve our presentation. II. Friendship with NFU Students Unforgettable is the first thing that came to my mind when I think of my friendship with NFU friends. Since the moment I stepped into Japan, everyone has been very kind and friendly. I really appreciate everyone who came to pick me up from the airport and gave me warm hugs. I am also grateful for the cute little welcome sign made and given to me by Mina, my homestay family. Mina has been a very wonderful host sister. She taught me many new things about the transportation and the daily life in Japan. Her family is the best host family I could ever ask for. They welcomed me with warm hospitality, cooked delicious food for me and even taught me how to cook Japanese food. Friends I met at NFU are also very kind and friendly. I am usually very shy when I first meet new people, so I do not dare to talk much with them. However, NFU friends often came to me and engaged me in the conversation. After I completed the team presentation, they came to show me around the campus, treated me food, took me out for sightseeing and taught me about Japanese culture. When I had to stay at the university until late evening, they were willing to stay with me. Moreover, during the university-arranged tour, everyone was so understanding. Although I kept asking a lot of questions out of curiosity, they were always ready to answer my questions with a smile. I was away from home, but their kindness always made me feel at home. III. Conclusion

This World Youth Meeting experience has certainly changed my perception of Wellbeing. Before I participated in the World Youth Meeting 2018, I did not understand what Well-being really meant. During the presentation preparation, I only thought of having an education, good health, and so on as Well-being. I mistakenly only thought of Well-being in a materialistic way that I somehow forget that the meaning of the concept is beyond that. After I went through the World Youth Meeting, I realized that the little happiness that everyone gave me also contributed to my own Well-being. I realized that little action such as the welcoming hugs, the words of encouragement, the kind smiles, and the warm hospitality which did not cost anything greatly increased my happiness and Well-being. Thus, I learnt that as a student, even if I could not provide much help financially and materialistically to those in need, I can give them limitless emotional support through my action. I may not be able to build people a shelter, but I can always help them feel at home until they find their own true home. This is a lesson that I will always remember when I contribute to the Well-being of my community. Thank you the World Youth Meeting 2018 for giving me this valuable lesson and wonder memories.

PHUONG Sovathana Institute of Technology of Cambodia Report of World Youth Meeting 2018 Abstract World Youth Meeting is an international event that is held every year, each year with a particular theme aiming for the development of international community. This year, the theme is Well-being which has a very broad meaning. As one of the participants, I feel very fortunate to have participated in this international event to expand my knowledge and experience with the international community. Like other participants, I have made various preparations before the actual event and I have also made a lot of new friends as well as learnt a lot from participating in this event. This event will continue to influence the youths to thrive for the betterment of the international communities. Introduction World Youth Meeting is a yearly international event where Japanese and overseas participants come together to form a group in order to give a presentation on a particular theme that changes every year. As a participant from Cambodia, I am honored to be selected to join World Youth Meeting 2018. Even before I met my team, I was required to do a presentation to introduce myself to NFU students and to present about ICT and education in Cambodia. Preparation Before The Event Before I went to Japan, my team had contacted me via my email in order to inform me about our presentation s topic which was Sea Trash. On that day, we discussed various things related to the topic including the survey, the outline and the slide via Skype. We finished the discussion within 2 hours and would continue it again. However, the next discussion was only held for around one hour. In these two discussions that were done before my arrival in Japan, I think we accomplished quite a lot of things. Our online

preparation was not enough thus we had to do more works as soon as I had arrived in Japan. Upon my arrival, we went to NFU to discuss more about our presentation. We also work together to gather more information and images for our slide. I would read the script and helped to adjust the spelling and grammar as much as I can. In addition, one day before the event, we had rehearsed multiple times to ensure fluency in delivering our presentation. All of our preparation is worth it because during the presentation, my team did very well and we were satisfied with our performance. Friendship with NFU students During World Youth Meeting 2018, I met a lot of new people and made a lot of friends with NFU students. However, I worked more closely with my teammates and I really enjoyed the company of my host brother. I spend most of my time with them and each moment is fun and unforgettable, especially during my free time with host family, when my host brother invited all my teammates to his home for movie time and after that we visited the beach. Besides, I also befriended with other NFU students who are from other teams and the organizer. I find them all very friendly and very kind. Furthermore, they made me feel very welcome. What I have learned from WYM I have learnt a lot of things by participating in WYM. The most important thing that I have learnt is team work and how to work with people from different countries and cultures. I think that knowing this will facilitate my future career since as an engineer I will work with people from different countries and background in a project. In addition, I also learn and understand more about well-being through the presentations of each team. Each presentation focused on an aspect of well-being and each proposed a way to achieve as well as to maintain that aspect of well-being of everyone in both Japan and

International communities. Moreover, those presentations also raised awareness of many issues that are happening in our world right now. Last but not least, WYM encouraged me get out of my comfort-zone and interact with not only Japanese students but also with many other oversea participants. These interactions allowed us to exchange our ideas, our views and especially our culture with each other and to make us all have fun together. Conclusion In conclusion, participating in World Youth Meeting 2018 is a special opportunity for me to involve with the international communities to aim for the well-being for our world. Together we can make this world a better place.

My Extended Family KHALIS AMRAN UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA ONLINE PREPARATION BEFORE THE EVENT With the help of technology, my teammates and I were able to discuss about our topic easily. By using Skype we managed to finish our presentation slides before I flew off to Japan. Other than using Skype, we also use other social medias such as Facebook and Line. We never had any problems in settling our tasks because of the existence of technology.

PREPARATION OF THE PRESENTATION The preparation of the presentation went very well as all members of my group had given their full commitment in finishing the tasks. There were a lot of things has been discussed regarding our presentation topic. We got to know better about our topic too. Working with my teammates was definitely like a dream come true because there were amazing and easy to work with. EVALUATION OF THE COLLABORATIVE PRESENTATION. While participating in World Youth Meeting, I also got to enhance my public communication skills. Being a Communication major, I have prepped myself with a decent presentation skills and luckily, I had the chance to apply them while I was in WYM. My presentation skills taught me to think on my feet especially when I was presenting to the audience. Besides that, it was very fun and easy to work with my teammates Saya, Yuji, Yumi and Yu Sumiya as they were all very helpful and professional. We manage to do our presentation successfully. WHAT I HAVE LEARNT FROM WYM I have never imagined myself to be a part of something big and meaningful such as World Youth Meeting. I am very glad that I got to be part of it. It is indeed a life changing

experience. Joining WYM is not only academically and culturally fulfilling, but also fosters personal growth. If you had asked me before which countries I wanted to go to, I would have listed a variety of European countries, simply because most of them can use English to communicate so, it will be easy for me to communicate. It had not crossed my mind to visit Japan. But, 10 days joining WYM in Nihon Fukushi University has made me realized that not only did I immensely enjoy my abroad experience, but that I am definitely going to pay another visit to Japan in the future. In other words I fell in love with Japan and I thank you WYM for that. I enjoy every moment of my stay and learn a lot of things. FRIENDSHIP WITH NFU STUDENTS Being one of the WYM participants has also allowed me to grow academically as I learned so many new things from the other participants. I made a lot of new friends from both Japan and other countries. NFU students have made me feel like at home. I can just be myself around them. Therefore, they are not only my friends but they are my new extending family. I have left Japan with the feeling of leaving a close friend that I can t wait to see again in the future! Japan, this is not a goodbye, but a see you later. I will be back! So hopefully, see you in a year or two or five!

Some of the faces that I will remember for the rest of my life.

World Youth Meeting 2018: International, plentiful, impressed Online preparation before the event Zheng Yating Wenzhou University Before I went to Japan, our group used Wechat to prepare our slides and presentation.though the Wechat, we have a video call to discuss our presentation on every Friday afternoon that became a routine. Because of that, we have already prepared for our preliminary work, and giving enough time for the practice after I arrived in Japan. So as for me, I am pretty enjoying about this form.through this form, not only can the members exchange ideas about the presentation, but also close the relationship between us, relieve the strangeness, and better promote the friendship and ideas between us. In addition, the face-to-face video call has greatly improved our ability to communicate in English. Preparation of the presentation In the process of preparation, the most impressed thing I remember was that we asked ourselves to correct our attitude and prepare well.we are constantly improving our slides,

familiarizing our sentences what we are going to say, and practicing to get the manuscript out. Because of the preparations of those days, we have confidence in us. What I have learned from WYM 2018 I am a member of this world. There are many kinds of interpretations of well-being. It may exist in our lives everywhere. As a member of the world, we must learn how to make life better, but the most important thing is how to do it. Starting small things around us, taking small actions to influence others, and making our life better through everyone's actions.in addition, the mutual cooperation with my peers has taught me a lot. How to present a good presentation, how to make others understand what we are going to tell, and how to work better with the team members.about these questions,i had received very good answers when I participated in WYM. Friendship with NFU students For this experience, I am grateful to the students of NFU, especially my group members and Yuko. They helped me adapt to the strange environment, enjoy some Japanese traditional cultures, and made me have an unforgettable experience.besides, I also learned a lot from them.also through them,i have a opportunity to meet more friends from different countries and learn about cultural differences between this countries.and I believe

that we will meet again in the near future.so as we said at the before,i will work hard before we meet again.see you next time my friends! Conclusion and Suggestion I am honored to be the first Chinese student to participate in WYM. I am very grateful to the professors and friends for their care. Because of your kindness, I have this unforgettable experience. Through this experience, I have grown a lot. WYM has brought me a lot of thoughts and deepened my thinking. It has also broadened my horizons.finally, I want to say a suggestion. Next time, you should let a group to receive the award instead of sending a representative, because the award was won by a group, so I think everyone should go together to receive this glory.

Looking back on World Youth Meeting 2018 Museok Jeong Chonnam National University Abstract World Youth Meeting 2018 was an opportunity to learn about Japan and the world. I could meet friends from different countries in Asia and learn their views and thoughts. Also, through various presentations about well-being, we pondered what we can contribute to our well-being. We are all members of the international community, and every action we make can affect everyone else. I am also affected by the actions of others. I found that we were influencing each other and living together, and we could go together for our better future. Preparation of the presentation Long before WYM2018 started, we prepared for the presentation using Skype and Facebook Messenger. Using these media to collaborate was difficult, but it was also a new experience. In the preparation process, I was impressed with the attitude of the team members who were caring about the other person and considering our collaborative project. Because of there were physically distant, we had to communicate using limited language and media. So it was necessary to convey our opinions clearly and to consider the other's feelings. I was able to learn a lot from the team members who are working hard to communicate in this regard. Figure 1 - Our presentation team members (And Sato sensei) During the preparation of the presentation, I tried to convey the content in an easy to understand way because the theme-virtual Reality-was unfamiliar to many people and the same team members were difficult to understand clearly. We also revised themes and content several times according to the discussions. Through this process, our themes of VR and well-being became increasingly clear, which was quite an impressive experience. Presentation programs of WYM 2018 Watching WYM presentation programs was an impressive experience. A variety of students talked about their own perspectives for our well-being. There were some things I did not know at all,

and some that I really felt was a new perspective. Looking at these presentations, I broaden my perspective on our world. I got a chance to think about my delivery methods by watching various presentations using English. Participants used a variety of methods to convey their thoughts, and some of them seemed to be really effective. Of course, language factor such as English pronunciation have played an important role, but delivery strategies are also very important. Communicating my ideas effectively is as important as developing my thinking. Friendship with new friends I could share friendships with students from around the world, including NFU. WYM 2018 was an opportunity to freely communicate with various students around the world and get to know each other's thoughts. Many people have tried to build relationships with each other with open minds, and there were many opportunities to deepen our relationship, such as homestay and Sightseeing Day. Having relationships with friends from many countries made me think of various countries as different attitudes. Now I Figure 2 - Sightseeing Day with NFU friends think of NFU friends when I think of Japan. And when I think about other countries, I think of friends from that country. Now that countries have meaning to me. I could understand the culture of many countries. In particular, more than a week of homestay experience was a good opportunity to learn about Japanese family culture and daily life. There were some impressive things like consideration of each other and life seemed very similar to Korea. I think that the personality and impressions of friends from various countries are related to the culture of each country. There were some very outgoing and open-minded friends, some shy but warm friends. It is interesting to see a certain tendency for people from one country. Conclusion WYM2018 was a great opportunity for me to be a citizen of the world. I came to worry about our world and think about what I can do and what I have to do right now. I would like to thank to NFU, NFU's many friends, and the overseas participants who provided this opportunity. Especially, I will never forget my friends who showed me warm heart. I hope that WYM continue to expand and that many people will be able to enjoy this opportunity.
