No. 1233/2013 29 June 2013 The Global Meet in the Year of faith scheduled to be held on 18 Aug 2013 at Mount St. Thomas Kakkanad provides an occasion for the Mother Church to share with her migrant faithful their joys and the hopes, their grief and pains of migration. The coming together of the representatives of the Syro-Malabar faithful from various parts of the globe will generate a new vigour in each of them and make the Syro-Malabar Church more vibrant to give genuine witness to the deposit of Christian faith inherited from St. Thomas, the Apostle. In addition, I am sure that this event will also give them a rare opportunity for the sharing of their experiences, problems, anxieties and concerns regarding the pastoral care which they are entitled to get in their own ecclesial tradition and heritage. I hope and pray that the Global Meet be instrumental to rekindle in the Syro-Malabar migrants a deep love for their mother Church and greater commitment to live their faith earnestly in varied life situations. Let it also be helpful to foster the spirit of communion of the Syro- Malabar faithful outside the proper territory of the Church both in India and abroad. I pray for heavenly blessings upon all those who work hard to make the Global Meet a memorable event in the annals of the Syro-Malabar Church! Message It is with utmost joy I welcome you, the delegates from both India and abroad, to the Global Meet 2013. We assemble together to reflect on our Syro-Malabar ecclesial identity and for promoting bonds of unity among us as children of an apostolic Church. Global meet in the Year of Faith will be a wonderful opportunity for reaffirming our missionary responsibility to be witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts. 1:8). It invites us to appreciate and strengthen the precious gift of faith and to share it with new ardour, method and means of expressions. The message of Jesus Christ needs to be preached to all. The kingdom of God is to be extended everywhere. In accord to the motto chosen for the celebration of the Year of Faith in Kerala faith working through love (Ga1.5:6), let us translate the message of Jesus Christ into action and bear witness to His message of selfless love. May the Global Meet signify in our Christian life a depth of renewal in our life of worship, prayer and works of charity.
