Lund Council Meeting May 11, 2017 Members present: Robin, Jennifer, Carol, Russell, Lynda, Karen H., Myra, Tom, Cindy, Judy and Pastor Jim. President Robin Turnwall opened the meeting with prayer. Agenda was set with additions. Secretary s Minutes: Motion to approve Myra/Tom/Carried. Financial Secretary Report: Given by Myra. The last offering for April was deposited in May. So, will be reported in May. Tom/Lynda/Carried. Treasurer s Report: Given by Karen H. Art Olson Trust fund was deposited into the memorial account. Discussed t Thrivent Choice Dollars. Any member can designate earnings from their Thrivent investment to a nonprofit of their choice. Myra/Carol/ Carried. Pastor s Report: Thanked us for his retirement celebration. Shared an article written by Rev. Daniel Berge regarding older congregations. Pastor s last day will be May 31 st. He will not be available to us for any pastoral business after that date. Committee Reports: *President Robin: Pulpit supply set up for June and July. Working with LCMC on the transition. *Deacons: Sign up sheets are filled for upcoming months thanks to Sharon Westerholm. You do not have to be on the council to help with communion. *Trustees: Wednesday night ( May 17th ) was set up for cemetery cleanup. *Education: VBS scheduled for August 17, 18 and 19 th. * Mission: If anyone is interested in going to Africa with Dan Venberg contact him and he can make arrangements to take a group. 2

*Endowment: Checking balance $9,610. Had three requests for funds: $1,000 total dispersed. Old Business: *Locks for doors: Still needed. Trustees can decide on what is needed and purchase them. Trustees will also ask Nate about working on the doors at the same time he installs the cupboards. * Cupboards: Will arrive in a couple of weeks. Ladies will need to remove things from old cupboards and shelves. * Meatball Dinner: Ordered disposable plates through Amazon since Target no longer carries them. Cost $123.40. * Dedication for Garage: Will wait until the kitchen project is done and do a dedication for everything at once. Transition Team: Discussed the retreat Pastor Suitor spoke about. Robin will get more info. New Business: *Change in council meeting date: Possible change for July and August. To be decided later. * Pulpit Supply: Discussed payment for Sunday service to be $150 with mileage reimbursement up to $100. *Outdoor service: Will not be outdoors because of unpredictable weather. Last Sunday of the month will include special music. Lynda, Robin and Russ will make those arrangements. Sunday Service: Discussion on the Order of Service: what we want to keep the same and what we may want to change. Next meeting : June 21st with devotions by Myra. Closed with prayer. Dearest Brothers and Sisters in Christ, All is good at Lund Lutheran! This is not an opinion, because I ve have Jesus by the hand and He has lovingly told us Peace, I am with you. We have great ministers set for spreading the word in June. We are working on a congregational workshop on transition. We have our organist, secretary, council, women s group and people thirsty for the words of Jesus. It is so exciting and wonderful following Jesus! God bless all of us on our new adventure. Pray for Lund, for the council, and for each other and remember Jesus is in control. Hi Mousey here, What a busy Month. May 7th there was a Retirement Farewell dinner for Pastor Jim and Barb. We wish him well on his retirement and God Bless him and Barb on the future. Detroit Lakes High School had graduation and Memorial Day of course. June and July there will be different pastors preaching at Lund while they go through the transition of getting a new pastor. Keep Lund in your prayer as we go through our journey in search of a new pastor Have a safe and fun June, until nest month. TUESDAYS IN THE PARK! MUSIC AND PICNIC!!! Every Tuesday night, local musicians & bands will perform in the DL City Park s Bandshell, near the Pavilion, at 7:00 pm. If it rains, concerts are moved inside the Pavilion. Prior to the FREE concert, there will be a picnic style meal from 6 7 pm, served up by volunteers. This is a fund-raiser for Habitat for Humanity and the Community Connections Series of the Historic Holmes Theatre, so your donations for the food will benefit those programs.
