Epistle Reading: St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 6:11-18 Prokeimenon. Mode Plagal 1. Psalm 11.7,1 You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us. St. Anna Greek Church 3015 E. Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84093 385-313-9358 5 th Sunday of November 5, 2017 Orthros: 9:15 a.m. : 10:15 a.m. Reverend Father Anthony Savas Reverend Deacon Anatoli Kireiev stannagocutah.org franthony@stannagocutah.org Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed. Brethren, see with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who receive circumcision do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen. Gospel Reading: The Gospel According to 16:19-31 The Lord said, There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazaros, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man s table; moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried; and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazaros in his bosom. And he called out, Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazaros to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazaros in like manner evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us. And he said, Then I

beg you, father, to send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment. But Abraham said, They have Moses, and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, No, father Abraham; but if some one goes to them from the dead, they will repent. He said to them, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if some one should rise from the dead. Resurrectional Apolytikion To the Word, coeternal with the Father and the Spirit, born of the Virgin for our salvation, let us, the faithful, give praise and worship. For He willed to be lifted up on the cross in the flesh, to endure death and raise the dead by His glorious resurrection. ( Book page 115) Entrance Hymn Come, let us worship and bow down before Christ. Save us, O Son of God, who rose from the dead, save us who sing to You, Alleluia. ( Book page 37) Hymn for the Church O God-minded Anna, you bore the pure Mother of God, the one who within her conceived the Conceiver of life itself. You were therefore transported to a place now in heaven. Joyful ones all reside there in the home of all gladness, asking for forgiveness for those who honor you, O blessed one. Kontakion O unfailing protection of Christians, and our faithful advocate before the Creator: though we are sinners, do not ignore our entreaty; but in your goodness, grant your timely help to us who appeal to you in faith. Quickly make intercession; on our behalf make speedy supplication, O Theotokos, for you always protect those who honor you. ( Book 225) Megalynarion (Hymn for the Theotokos) It is truly right to call you blessed, O Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure and the mother, the mother of our God. More honorable that the cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the seraphim. In virginity you gave birth to God, to God the Word. Truly the Theotokos, we magnify you, we magnify you. ( Book page 69) Communion Hymn Psalm 148 Praise the Lord, praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him, praise Him in the highest. (3) ( Book page 83) Hymn after Holy Communion We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us. ( Book page 87) Dismissal Hymn Lord, grant long life to him who blesses us and sanctifies us. Our Sunday School students and teachers will be ushered for communion first, front to back, row by row, by a member of the Parish Council. The rest of the parishioners will then be ushered for communion, front to back, row by row, by a member of the Parish Council. Please allow our Sunday School students and teachers to receive communion first so that they may start class on time. Your cooperation in this process is appreciated! Church Etiquette Reminder: Please remember that no one should enter the church during the Small Entrance, the Great Entrance, the Epistle Reading, the Gospel Reading, or the Creed. Please remain in the hallway, narthex or fellowship hall during these parts of the if you have not already entered the church. Thank you! STEWARDSHIP 2017 Stewardship Payments: As the end of the year draws near, please review your records to ensure that you have met your stewardship commitment. If you have any questions regarding the status of your commitment or wish to make payment arrangements, please contact Parish Council Treasurer Nick Daskalas at 801-998-8007 or treasurer@stannagocutah.org. Stewardship payments can be made via credit card in the Narthex or online at stannagocutah.org/?page_id=2666. 2018 Stewardship: November has been established as Stewardship Month. Your 2018 Stewardship Packets will be available TODAY, Sunday, November 5, 2017, as you register for the Fall Parish Assembly. Stewardship Sunday will be December 3, 2017. Please bring your Stewardship Commitment Card to that day so it can be collected, prayed over and turned into the office the next day. Please note that a stewardship commitment card does not create a legal obligation, but is rather a commitment of faith. If you are already giving to the Parish but have not completed a stewardship commitment card, please do so. Having the completed card allows us to maintain an up to date and accurate roster of the parish membership and assists us greatly in preparing and tracking against our annual budgets. Visit stannagocutah.org/?page_id=21 to obtain a Stewardship card online. We thank you for your commitments and yet, still remind you that true and sincere Stewardship is the gifting back to the Lord, that which He has already given us. Let us never become complacent in our giving; for when that happens in our communities, the Light of Christ burns less vibrantly in the hearts of the faithful. God bless you always and again, thank you for your sacrificial and well-pleasing hearts. God loves a cheerful giver! (2 Corinthians 9:7) GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Special Collection: Thank you to everyone who generously contributed to the special collection to assist the family of Josh and Angie Cardoza.
