A Message from Lila: I thank You, God, for protecting me from what I thought I wanted and blessing me with what I didn't know I needed (Joy of Mom) I didn't know I needed old age but what a blessing! I love growing older. I feel I have more to offer than ever before. I am blessed with relatively good health. Since retiring, I am involved in activities that bring me joy. I am privileged to volunteer many hours per week. I look for ways to bring joy to others. I take pleasure in the joys of motherhood and grand-motherhood. I have more time to devote to Bible Study. I feel the comfort of God in a more genuine way than ever before. I have learned to stop and listen for God's guidance. Frank Lloyd Wright once said, The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. C.S. Lewis challenges us with, You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. Henry Ford says, Anyone who stops learning is old whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. Does this not describe United Methodist Women? We are constantly celebrating life, setting new goals, learning through Mission Studies and the Reading Program. Fellow United Methodist Women, WE ARE YOUNG!! Thank you, God, for blessing me throughout my life. I acknowledge that I have not always recognized your blessings at the time. I still struggle with a few things but I know you have my best interest at heart. You have surrounded me with people who confess You as Lord. You have shown me that You never change, that You are always in control, and Your Holy Spirit is always with me. Amen Blessings, Lila On February 20, 2019, we are invited to Cedar Grove UMC for the What About Our Money Mission Study. We have been instructed to bring your own lunch and Cedar Grove UMW will furnish the drink and dessert. I cannot wait to see what delicious desserts these ladies will bring. This is a little different from what we have been doing in the past years, but it sounds like fun and it may be an incentive for smaller churches to host some of our meetings. It is always interesting to go to another church and see their worship house. If you would like to host a meeting, contact Lila.

I have enjoyed speaking with many of you this fall and hope that the memorial List is complete. Do no hesitate to let me know if a name is incorrect or left off the program. We will make additions as needed during the service. This service is even more special when a local church member is able to light the candles for the deceased members of each church. If no one from your church can attend, a candle will still be lit for each member. Enrourage a first-timer to attend with you this year. I always hear positive reports from first-time attendees. On a more personal note, Cedar Grove UMW is excited about hosting our Money Mission Study in February make plans now to attend and bring your friends. Social Action Linda Malone Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as you can. John Wesley UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) serves the world in a variety of ways. One of the ways is by supplying health kits, school kits, cleaning kits, bedding kits, and several other kits to people all over the WORLD when disaster happens. We are blessed to have an UMCOR facility in Decatur, Alabama. We have scheduled the following dates for 2019: Tuesday, March 12 th, Wednesday, March 13 th, and Thursday, March 14 th. We are staying at the Baymont Inn. Our special rate is $68.08 per night for 2 double beds, including tax, up to 4 people per room. I will have registration forms at our District Annual Meeting on November 10, 2018, at Shelbyville First. Ray Crump is the director of the Decatur Warehouse. He assures me that there will be plenty of work for us to do. When I talked with him today (one day after the hurricane hit Panama City) he was looking for someone to drive a truck to Florida. By the time we go in March, it will be tornado season, enough said! We have an excellent opportunity to serve in God's world. You are invited and needed! Men are welcome.
