Moore The Mission of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church is to teach, preach and interpret the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the Power of The Holy Spirit, we will strive to convert the lost and build up the Body of Christ. We will further endeavor to eradicate miseducation, prejudices, and all forms of discrimination and their effects. In order to accomplish this as a community of faith, we must collectively strive to holistically meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, social and economic needs of our membership and community. Until the kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of Our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ... And He shall reign forever and ever. Amen

Greetings Mount Carmel, In the beginning of my pastorate this generous congregation embarked on a six month Footsteps of Faith financial campaign in order to pay off our air conditioner loan two years early, and to also begin aggressively paying down the balance on our mortgage. Periodically over the past several months you have heard me discuss the ongoing financial needs of our church, particularly the operating budget. Of the 1.2 million dollars budgeted for fiscal 2018, $16,000 every month is allocated for capital expenditures (also known as capital expansion ), which is comprised of: 1) our mortgage plus an additional mortgage payment; 2) our piano loan payment; and 3) our monthly investment contribution. Because of your faithful commitment, the following partial list identifies just some of what we have accomplished as a church family, God being our help: We have been able to serve over 5,000 meals to those in need throughout the city of Philadelphia. Annually, we provide over 250 Thanksgiving Baskets to families in our immediate community. Our edifice serves as meeting space for a variety of human service, educational, and political entities in our West Philadelphia community. We support students in their academic endeavors by providing financial assistance. And just this year we have been able to make a significant, loving impact on the lives of our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Mt. Carmel family, we still need your generous giving in order to be faithful to the ministries to which God has called us. Therefore, after prayerful and thoughtful consideration, in an effort to accomplish our mission and ministry goals, I am inviting all of us to walk together for one year (July 2018- July 2019) on a faith journey we can call Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking, in order to eliminate the remaining $279,000.00 mortgage balance. By eliminating the mortgage, we will be in a far better position to address structural/ maintenance needs inside and outside of the church building, while at the same time meeting and expanding our ministry opportunities for the church family and wider community. Barbara Bright Bala Nursing Home, Rm #251 B 4001 Ford Road (31) Mt. Carmel, I recall with great joy the individual and collective success we achieved during The Footsteps of Faith 2016 giving campaign so I am confident that we can eliminate our mortgage in the next year. Our prior efforts have proven that we can do all things when we set our minds to working together. To ensure we accomplish our task, our campaign goal will be $300,000.00. Kathleen E. For example: Let s say you currently give $100.00 per week in your gift giving envelope. During this new campaign, you would not give the same amount say, $75.00 in your gift giving envelope and $25.00 to Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking, because that would fail to address our current financial expenses and needs. Rather, you would increase your giving so that it goes as far above your current $100 mark as you feel the Lord leading you to reach. During this journey my prayer is that we will all embrace this temporary, yearlong Still Walking sacrifice as one of long term value. The campaign materials (see accompanying sample) will include a pledge card to indicate your level of financial commitment throughout the campaign. There are five levels of giving: Matthew $2500.00, Mark $1000.00, Luke $750.00, John $500.00, and Paul $365.00. Also, a set of Still Walking envelopes will also be provided, which will be used separately from your annual gift giving envelopes. (The purpose of the Still Walking envelope is for financial tracking specifically for the campaign.) Please know that your clearly identified sacrificial contributions will be used only for the designated purpose of the Still Walking mortgage/capital expansion line item. During the campaign a fundraiser thermometer will be located on the sanctuary level of the church and on the church website to visually represent our progress. Once the campaign is complete, Mt. Carmel members who fulfilled their campaign commitment will be noted on a Footsteps of Faith: Still Walking legacy wall; this will help commemorate our commitment for the generations coming behind us. I humbly ask that as we give towards the work and ministry of the church, we do so generously and gladly, knowing that we are giving back to God only a portion of what God has given to us. This will ensure that we will be able to be effective in our efforts to be The Hearts and Hands of West Philadelphia. One Church Working Together, Pastor
