Amen Confession and Forgiveness Blessed be the Holy Trinity, one God, who gathers us in our brokenness, binds together our shattered souls, and through Jesus Christ makes our fragmented lives whole. Merciful God, For mocking others who are different from us, for standing by while the world suffers, for ignoring your call to care for all of creation, for the sinful things we know we do and the things we are not aware of, we turn to you, gracious and merciful Lord. Forgive, redeem and restore us and all creation. Creator, forgive us. Jesus, redeem us. Holy Spirit, heal us. By his wounds you have been healed. As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Anthem 9:00 Mercy Craig Courtney High School Choir 10:30 Jesus in the Morning; Jesus Loves the Little Children; Joy, Joy, Joy Traditional Children of the Preschools of St. Andrew s Prayer of the Day The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 4 For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child, friends on earth and friends above; for all gentle thoughts and mild: Refrain Children s Sermon Lesson Romans 8:19-23 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. *** We welcome children to Dock Children s Education at this time.*** Ensure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. See front of yellow bulletin insert for pickup locations. Anthem Creation Sings Getty and Townend; arr. Patti Drennan St. Andrew s Choir Lesson Isaiah 52:13-15 See, my servant shall prosper; he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high. Just as there were many who were astonished at him so marred was his appearance, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of mortals so he shall startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which had not been told them they shall see, and that which they had not heard they shall contemplate. 5
Anthem 10:30 How Deep the Father s Love Townend/arr. Shackley New Dimension Singers Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Holy Gospel Luke 23:32-43 All (sung): Glory to you, O Lord. Two others also, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with Jesus. When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. And they cast lots to divide his clothing. And the people stood by, watching; but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, his chosen one! The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, and saying, If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself! There was also an inscription over him, This is the King of the Jews. One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us! But the other rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong. Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. He replied, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise. The Gospel of the Lord. All (sung): Praise to you, O Christ. 7
