One of the most wonderful elements that defines the Catholic faith is the community to which we all belong. Each time we celebrate together we help foster and grow the relationships between each other and the Lord. By living our faith we are each disciples of Christ and serve as Christ s face to the world. We welcome anyone who is not yet Catholic to become a member of our community. Jesus began his public ministry with one word If you are not yet a member of the Catholic faith we invite you to Come and walk with us this year on a journey that will change your life. The Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults. The formation classes begin in September and culminate at the Easter Vigil. Interested? Please contact Father Matt Bozovsky 847/362-2073 mbozovsky@sjlibertyville.org Answer the Call to Serve as a Catechist We grew up in a different time. We could play outside from morning to when the streetlights came on, without a cell phone, and our parents knew we were safe. While some things have changed, others have not. What remains the same is the constant source of unconditional love and forgiveness that Jesus provides each of us. We can t give children the good old days, but we can help to form their conscience, giving them the tools they need for moral development, to live and serve as we are called. By answering the call to serve as a catechist, you will contribute to forming the next generation of Catholics. Answering the call to serve as a Catechist has been very rewarding. Not only am I able to share my faith with the children, but also teach them about Jesus' love for them as they prepare to receive Jesus in the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist -Anna Marie, Catechist for 27 years Are you being called? Sign up your 2nd to 8th Graders today for Totus Tuus The Totus Tuus (Totally Yours) parish summer catechetical program is a week-long daytime parish mission for Catholic youth entering the 2nd through 8th grade. The program is dedicated to proclamation of the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, apologetics, Christian witness, the sacraments, Marian devotion, and Eucharistic worship. Totus Tuus accomplishes this by taking college students and seminarians to engage the youth of parishes with skits, songs, games and inspiring, interactive teaching. Children will receive instruction in the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary and the Virtues this summer, will attend Mass, spend time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and more! Totus Tuus is a fun, engaging way to inspire children while instructing grounding and a solid personal relationship with Christ. Totus Tuus demonstrates that one can be a faithful, prayerful practicing Catholic and still have fun! Children entering grades 2-8 have the opportunity to attend July 20-24 from 9:00 to 2:30. Thursday, June 25 5:30 PM 7:30 PM 671 S Lewis Ave, Waukegan E This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (Jn 13:35) Peter s Pence Collection Is Next Week mbarking on the third year of his pontificate, Pope Francis continues to call each of us to be a witness of charity. To love God and neighbor is not something abstract, he said, but profoundly concrete: it means seeing in every person the face of the Lord to be served, to serve him concretely. Pope Francis shows through his actions what it means to serve our brothers and sisters and give them the love of Christ. Let us follow his example of service so that all people might have the joy of receiving Jesus through our presence: And you are, dear brothers and sisters, the face of Jesus. The Peter s Pence Collection unites us in solidarity with the Holy Father and his works of charity toward those who are suffering around the world. Pope Francis reminds us that true power lies not in amassing possessions and resources for ourselves but in giving. We must never forget that true power, at any level, is service, whose bright summit is upon the Cross... It means to enter into Jesus logic, who bends down to wash the feet of the Apostles, he said. Your contributions to the Peter s Pence Collection join with the power of Christ and allow our Holy Father to support victims of war and natural disasters and all our brothers and sisters who face the greatest need. Join Pope Francis and be a witness of charity throughout the world. Please be generous in the Peter s Pence Collection.
