I hope you are having a great Lent! I'm so proud of our confirmation students. Each of the six classes are all choosing various ways to help our community this month and next. In true Gospel fashion, they are choosing something they feel called to do and with a truly voluntary spirit. Please pray for and support them in their outreach. Encourage them to follow their callings. Have you ever met a famous person? Was it at a concert? A play? A game? In an airport or a restaurant? Some of us may have met an actor, a sports professional, a social media influencer, a political figure, an author, a fighter for social justice, or a religious personage. How did you feel? Were you surprised, excited, startled, scared, nervous, or perhaps humbled? Sometimes meeting a famous person becomes a defining moment in our life and sets us on a path we hadn't thought of before. Children often meet a celebrity and it influences their direction in life as adults. As a culture, we will pay large sums of money, stand in line, or wait hours to be with, talk to, or listen to those we feel are important in our life. I don't know if you're aware, but we have someone famous close to St Anthony's Church. He's probably been here longer than you know. He's quiet, keeps to himself, but really loves company, especially young people. He's really great to be around. He doesn't mind if you drop in unannounced. He always makes time for people. He gives great advice. I hear Monsignor talk about him all the time. In fact, Monsignor moved into the same building as him a couple years ago. He's Jesus. The greatest teacher who ever lived. The man who's saved more lives than anyone in the whole of human history combined. The Lord of all creation. And he just wants to spend some time with you and your children. BULLETIN DEADLINE Submit bulletin information no later than noon, Friday (10 days before the date of the Sunday bulletin) Email: showard@stanthonydsm.org Information will be subject to edit and available space. Thanks 2. March 24, 2019 Kim mentioned Eucharistic adoration last week in her column. Have you and your family taken her up on her suggestion? Could you start with a few minutes before or after mass in the adoration chapel, and slowly work your way up to perhaps an hour? You and I, and even our children, we've met some amazing people in our lifetimes. They all pale in comparison with our encounter with God, who is with us in adoration and at mass. Bring your family to adoration during Lent. Jesus said, Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. (Matthew 19:14 GNT) Your fellow servant in Christ, Chris Dear Jesus, in everything I say and in everything I do, in everything today may it glorify you!
