It s been a busy last couple of weeks! Snow and sacramental prep! Thank you to all the parents who have been making sacrifices to make sure their children attend and have their baptism certificate. Spanish students needing first reconciliation can come and make their first confession before the Spanish Mass at 1PM in the month of March. They should arrive before noon and check in with me to make sure we have their baptism certificate and so I can help them with any questions. English first reconciliation should be scheduled soon. Students in confirmation have been practicing the Angelus each class and are ready to move on to prayers for the Lenten season. Please pray the Angelus with them so they don't forget it! We are praying it in Children's Liturgy now. It's a beautiful prayer and if you aren't familiar with it you can find it in the prayer section of the MyParish app. With all this activity going on I want to make sure that you can stay notified. The primary means of communication are the MyParish app and our website, www.stanthonydsm.org. You can always reach me by phone or email but it may not always be immediate. On the MyParish app you can join one of our several groups that your children may be participating in, such as RE or confirmation. In this way you can be notified immediately of upcoming events or changes. Thank you for all your flexibility and support this year. I'm proud of our parish and our youth in particular. It's exciting to see up front the Holy Spirit in action! Your fellow servant in Christ, Chris Dear Jesus, in everything I say and in everything I do, in everything today may it glorify you! 2. We would be so happy if all our members could do whatever they can to help with reaching out to those less fortunate than we are. The three traditional pillars of Lenten observance are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. As part of that observance, and in an effort to witness to our Catholic faith during this Lenten season, our parish will be collecting donations for a variety of worthy causes. Posted in the bulletin each week of Lent will be a charity, along with a wish list of its needs. Collection of needed items for the specified charity will be observed the following weekend. Below is an overview of the six weeks of our Lenten Offerings. The wish list for the first week will be in next week s bulletin. If you feel that you cannot donate, a prayer for our success will be appreciated. Thank you. From Fr. Dan Gehler My Dear Parishioners, I knew the day was coming when I would be moving from St. Anthony to my next assignment, and truth be told, I have been give some extra time here. I didn t think when it did happen, however, it would be so quick. I figured I would have two or three months to take it all in, say my good byes, clean things out, and pack things up. I wanted to express to all of you my gratitude in allowing me to become a part of St Anthony. You have so much to offer and I have found it to be not only an invaluable learning experience, but a great experience at a personal level. I have enjoyed working with everyone, and being a part of your lives. Msgr. has been a great mentor and what I have learned from him will help me in my new assignment. I want to thank him for his time and his patience in working with me. I am looking forward to the next adventure in my life. In some ways it will be like going home. Some of you know that I grew up in a rural setting so it will be fun to get reacquainted with that part of my past. I will hold St. Anthony in a special place in my heart, the great people and the wonderful experiences. I will keep all of you in my prayers and I ask you to pray for me. My God bless you and keep you close to him.
