Rev. Mike Winters, Pastor Ben Harding, Music Director Hannah Grace Mullins, Youth Director Dr. Ray Jones, Jr., Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH March 26, 2019 A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. Dear Church Family and Friends, When we shop for groceries, we usually check the expiration date. This helps insure that what we eat is safe. Every food item has a shelf life. Words have no shelf life. Once spoken, they live on and affect the speaker and the hearer. It is estimated that the average person speaks 16,000 words a day or 860 million words in a lifetime. What we say matters. The author of the Book of James wrote words of encouragement to his hearers. He wanted to help them live their faith. An important way to do that is to manage our words. He devotes the entirety of chapter 3 to this important subject. Proverbs 18:21 says that the tongue has the power of life and death. Consider the power of these words. I hate you, or I love you. I will not apologize, or I am sorry. I am ashamed of you, or I am proud of you. I do not believe in God, or I give my heart to Jesus. We cannot manage our words on our own. All of world history as well as our own personal history bears this out. We need God s help. Our words can change our lives and the world around us. Love, Pastor Mike How to Join Wise Baptist Church: Express one of the following to the Pastor during the closing hymn: Transfer of Letter Transfer membership to Wise Baptist Church Baptism Desire to express faith in Christ through baptism Statement of Faith Baptized believer not on a membership roll Watch Care Desire to be connected to our Church family without official membership Important Dates Laurels Ministry March 28, 1:30pm Dinner Dance March 29, 6pm Deacons Meeting April 7, 8:30am Holy Communion April 7, 11am Children s HE S ALIVE!
