April 13, 2014 3 Palm Sunday Believe it or not but the phrase Palm Sunday is a colloquialism. It s not even the official name of the Sunday before Easter. It is best to call it Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord. Yes, the whole congregation receives palm on this day and joyfully we celebrate Jesus entry into Jerusalem. It is a very temporary and very limited triumph, but the Church will not miss out on a chance to celebrate Jesus as Messiah. This small sign of acknowledgement of who Jesus really is, is a prelude to the solid evangelizing faith of the apostles after Pentecost. However, most of the actual liturgy involves the passion. We have in fact the whole of the passion to be read and the entire week converges on the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Plan to be at as many of the Holy Week Services as you can. It takes a little planning to get to these events but the blessings are very great. Also don t forget confession either on Monday of Holy Week Diocesan Day of Reconciliation or at another time listed in the bulletin or the schedule you received at home. The Diocese of Rockville Centre Golden Wedding Liturgy Honoring Couples Married Fifty Years or More This spring, couples that have been married fifty years or more will be honored at liturgies on Sunday, May 4 at the Church of Maria Regina in Seaford and on Sunday, May 18 at the Church of St. Lawrence the Martyr in Sayville. Both Liturgies will begin at 2:30pm. Couples may register for ONE liturgy. Registration forms and complete instructions can be obtained at the rectory. Registration must be received by the Office of Worship by April 16th for the May 4th liturgy and by April 30th for the May 18th liturgy. DIVINE WILL STUDY GROUP For over 40 years Jesus taught Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, to live on earth as it is in Heaven. The Church has given the Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat to the first 19 of 36 volumes given to Luisa; the Cause for her Beautification began in 1994. If you desire to live in the Divine Will of God please join our weekly meetings on Thursdays, 7-9pm in the basement auditorium here at St. Francis. BEGIN YOUR MORNING WITH THE LORD! The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed during the 8:00am rosary each day, provided that a respectful number of people are present to be in Our Lord s presence before the 8:30am Holy Mass. Come to the Divine Healer!
