WHY WAS SAUL DISOBEDIENT? 1. ISOLATION: When I saw that the people were scattered from me (1 Samuel 13:11b). 2. IMPATIENCE: and that you did not come Uwithin N D the E R Sdays T Aappointed N D I N G(1 T HSamuel E 11:13c). N E W T E S T A M E N T 3. FEAR: and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash (1 Samuel 13:11d).

SAUL DISOBEYS AGAIN 8 He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the U N D E R S T A N D I N G T H E best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, NandE all W that Twas E Sgood, T Aand M Ewere N Tunwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed. 1 Samuel 15:8-9 (NKJV)

1. SAUL S PRIDE 13 Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him, "Blessed are you of the LORD! I have performed the commandment of the LORD." 14 But U NSamuel D E Rsaid, S T"What A Nthen D Iis Nthis G Tbleating H E of the sheep N EinW my ears, T Eand S Tthe Alowing M E NofTthe oxen which I hear?" 1 Samuel 15:13-17 (NKJV)

1. SAUL S PRIDE 15 And Saul said, "They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD your U NGod; D Eand R S TtheA rest N Dwe I N Ghave T Hutterly E destroyed." N E W T E S T A M E N T 1 Samuel 15:13-17 (NKJV)

1. SAUL S PRIDE 16 Then Samuel said to Saul, "Be quiet! And I will tell you what the LORD said to me last night." And he said to him, "Speak on." 17 So U Samuel N D Esaid, R S"When T A Nyou D Iwere N Glittle T HinE your own eyes, N Ewere W you T Enot S Thead A MofE the N Ttribes of Israel? And did not the LORD anoint you king over Israel? 1 Samuel 15:13-17 (NKJV)

2. SAUL S GREED 18 Now the LORD sent you on a mission, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.' U N D E R S T A N D I N G T H E 19 WhyN then E W did TyouE not S Tobey A Mthe E Nvoice T of the LORD? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the LORD?" 1 Samuel 15:18-20 (NKJV)

2. SAUL S GREED 20 And Saul said to Samuel, "But I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and gone on the mission on which the LORD sent me, and brought back Agag U Nking Dof EAmalek; R S T IA have N Dutterly I N Gdestroyed T H E the Amalekites. N E W T E S T A M E N T 1 Samuel 15:18-20 (NKJV)

3. SAUL S FEAR OF MAN 21 But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the LORD your UGod N DinE Gilgal." R S T 22 ASoN Samuel D I Nsaid: G T"HasH E the LORD NasEgreat W delight T E S in T Aburnt M Eofferings N T and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15:21-24 (NKJV)

3. SAUL S FEAR OF MAN 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also hasu rejected N D Eyou R Sfrom T Abeing N Dking." I N G 24 Then H E Saul said ton Samuel, E W T"IE have S T Asinned, M E NforT I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 1 Samuel 15:21-24 (NKJV)

HOW DOES JESUS HELP US OBEY? 1. Pride -> Humility (Philippians 2:8). 2. Greed -> Contentment (1 Timothy 6:6-10). 3. Fear of man -> Fear of God (Proverbs 22:4). U N D E R S T A N D I N G T H E 4. Isolation/rejection N E W T E-> SCommunity. T A M E N T 5. Impatience -> Patience (fruit of the Spirit). 6. Fear of death/failure -> Faith.

JESUS LEARNED OBEDIENCE 8 Even though Jesus was God's Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered. 9 In this way, God qualified Him as a perfect High UPriest, N D Eand R SHeTbecame A N DtheI source N G TofH eternal E salvation for all those who obey Him.
