November 1, 2015, will be a joyous occasion when we pay a special tribute to God and His ambassador. "He gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers: (Eph. 4:11) Rocky Creek Missionary Baptist Church appreciates our pastor, Reverend Adrian J. Mcilwain and his family. Their tenure at this church has certainly been memorable and we look forward to many more years of dedicated service and friendship with you and your family. RCMBC MIT Program The Minister-in-Training (MIT) program of Rocky Creek Missionary Baptist Church is designed to give the person who senses God s call on his or her life practical training and ministry experience. Students will be able to test their call while they develop their gifts and abilities to minister effectively. The Dean of MIT has developed a ministerial process designed for students to develop their particular area of calling or personal spiritual endeavor. This process is meticulously formulated to produce sound biblical theology and Christian doctrine to equip those called by God to handle the Word of truth rightly. The first stage of training is discovery, which is a process for students to discern God s call. Students will train and prepare for the work of congregational ministry. They will learn to identify God s specific calling on his/her life for the purpose of kingdom building. Reedy Fork/Rocky Creek Fairground Community Park 931 S. Garrison Rd, Simpsonville, SC (864) 293-1681 The Reedy Fork/Rocky Creek Fairground Community Park (RF/RC FCP) is steeped in cultural history. It was founded by a group of Black community members from the city of Greenville who came together to establish the Greenville County Colored Fair Association in 1920. In 1925, Black professionals formed an alliance, purchased 13.26 acres for the colored fairs, which is now the location for the RF/RC FCP. It was donated to Reedy Fork Baptist Church and Rocky Creek Baptist Church with the understanding the property would be used to enhance the communities of both churches. The historical site is a private/public park which continues to be developed as a family-friendly facility. Its grounds, including the pavilion can be rented for a variety of events on weekdays, weekends, daytime or nighttime. The park is dependent upon DONATIONS and the Park Committee needs your help to continue the growth of our RF/RC Family Community Park. You can purchase an engraved brick for $100 which will be placed in a prayer garden. For information on donations or to buy a brick, contact Alice Burton at (864) 787-9216 or Robert E Sweeney at (864) 293-1681. We have other opportunities to show your continued support. Please plan to participate in one or more of the following fundraisers. Fall Fairgrounds Fundraiser Dear RCMBC Families: Belk has given us an easy, excellent fund raising opportunity to raise money for our Park, the Reedy Fork/Rocky Creek Fairground Community Park. A ticket to Belk Charity Sale, a private sale offering incredible savings on virtually everything in the entire store, will be held on Sat, Nov 7th from 6am 10am. If this day or time is not a good time for you to shop, Belk is offering the convenience of pre-selecting your merchandise now thru Nov 6th. Belk will ring up your purchases for you on Nov 7th and have it available for pick-up the day of the sale or after the sale at your convenience. To attend the sale before or on Nov. 7 th, a $5 ticket is needed, which you can purchase from Tammy Sweeney, Charlotte Reeder, Takitta Childress, or Robert E. Sweeney. Your ticket is good for $5 off any $5 purchase any one time on Sat, Nov 7 th. So you actually get your $5 back in the form of a discount! That s it! A great sale for you and a great fundraiser for our PARK. Robert E. Sweeney President Women s Day The Ladies of Rocky Creek Missionary Baptist Church celebrated Women s Day on Sunday, September 27 during worship service. A powerful message was delivered by Min. Angela Freeman. It was inspiring and uplifting. The message was entitled: Girls on the Run: Focus on the Finish And the ladies finished the day by raising nearly $17,000. Technology Committee An example of Min. Freeman s theme: Girls on the Run: Focus on the Finish, is our very own phenomenally focused church member and president of the Technology Committee, Ms. Nerissa Lewis. She and her team have run and continue to run an exemplary race. Look around the church; see the fruits of their labor; be inspired and encouraged by their actions. Witness their relentless efforts to be of service to God and church. Let us encourage them by: JOINING THE TEAM. The Rocky Creek Production Team is responsible for the live production of audio, video, and stage elements, for Sunday morning service. The team consists of volunteers and paid staff. Professional experience is not necessary. Training is provided; just bring a team spirit and passion to volunteer. To join the team please contact Anthony Harris, ynohtna@me.com or Nerissa Lewis nqlewis2906@gmail.com
