President Sam called the meeting to order. Pastor Joe gave devotions. Secretary Report: February minutes approved as printed. Motion to approve Secretary s report was made by Randy. Judi seconded. Treasurer s Report: Beginning Balance February 1st: $81.91 Month Income: $18,402.29 Expenses: $9,833.54 Funds Available: $19,928.58 Transfers: ($150.20) Transfers: $1,444.38 Balance on Hand February 28th: $9,944.84 Motion to approve the Treasurer s report was made by Kori. Mike seconded. Approved. Old Business: Communion every Sunday: St. Paul s started having communion every Sunday at the first of the year. Katerri Fish has been doing a very good job of checking ahead of the schedule for Deacons and making sure there s enough supply for communion and noted that the bread baking is going well also. Parsonage Basement: parsonage basement project is going very well - almost complete. The project is staying under budget from the approved estimate; all that is left to do is trim work, flooring, and egress window installation. Pastor Joe and Dennis Jones both used $250 Thrivent Action Team dollars towards the project as well to help with some of the costs. A thank you to all the help donated with the project to offset the overall costs of the update for the basement. Wish List Items: Sam received the wish list from the building committee and a lot of the items that were listed have been already updated or acquired with the new building addition. The list of items to still be acquired/ completed will be posted in the future encouraging people to give towards/donate any of the items if they feel so called. WELCA Fireplace: WELCA purchased an electric fireplace for the Multi-purpose room; it has arrived and will be installed in the near future. Synod Conversation with SPLC (January 2018): Back in January the Synod got in touch with Pastor Joe and wanted to discuss with him and some church members to commend St. Paul s on their recent thriving and healthy congregation. The Synod also wanted to use the conversation to learn about what God has been up to and what things are working here at St. Paul s. Paul s. The discussion included the importance and value of the Church s committees like WELCA, Fellowship Team, Education Committee, partnership with Discovery Days, noisy offering, etc... and other areas of the Church that offer a great foundation for our Church s growth, and mission. Another point of emphasis was the positive turnover of leadership in various areas in the church that previous leadership has been healthy and competent, while also compassionate and gracious in turning over those leadership positions to new and different members. The Synod was impressed with St. Paul s Church and wanted to note for the whole congregation to keep up the good work.

March Council Meeting Minutes Continued P A G E 3 New Business: Wheelchair: John and Judi Dahlseng are donating a wheelchair to St. Paul s to be used and stored at Church for anyone needing to use it, it does fold up and can be stored at Church. Thank You John and Judi. Sunshare Solar: Back in December of 2015 SPLC signed a 25 year agreement with Sunshare Solar Farm, which is very close to being up and running just north of Starbuck. The agreement is to receive 10% credit on our electrical bill with Xcel. Sunshare Solar recently sold out to Cypress Creek Solar that will still uphold the same contract agreement that was with Sunshare Solar. March 16-18th Pastor Vacation: Pastor Joe will be on vacation March 16-18th and Pastor Jim Grunewold will be pulpit supply for Sunday service on March 18th. Paternity Leave: Pastor Joe and his wife Margaret are expecting their second child in May, and he ll be using paternity leave not all at once but split up for May and part of June. He and Carrie are working on structuring the leave and finding people to fill in during Pr. Joe s absence. They have secured pulpit supply from Lutheran Service on May 13th. As the due date gets closer, more dates may be filled in as they can make more accurate guesses as to when Pr. Joe will be on leave. NOTE: Pr. Joe will lead on May 20th and June 3rd and be in the office leading up to those Sundays (they are Day/Graduate Sunday respectively). Pr. Joe s leave will be partial as he will still be semi-available for crisis ministry, continue to teach, and help with Luther League while on leave. Building Fund: While reviewing the treasurer s report and noting the amount of money in the building fund of $35,017.39, it was discussed that some of the money should be applied towards the loan principle for the new addition and leave the remainder in the account for upcoming payments. Applying the additional money towards the loan would help lower the principle amount owed on the loan. Bob made a motion to use $20,000 from the building fund to be applied towards the principle of the loan for the new addition. A second from Randy. Motion carried. Announcements: Next Meeting April 5th 2018, 6:30p.m. *Breakfast & Bible Study March 3rd @7a.m. *Final Adult Ed Mon March 12th @6:30p.m *Wednesday Meals & Services Continue through March 21st 5:30/6:30p.m respectively *Luther League Cinnamon Prep Day & Sale Saturday March24th/ Palm Sunday March 25th *Holy Week Services: *Maundy Thursday Potluck Worship-Thursday March29th @6:30p.m. *Good Friday Worship- Friday March 30th @6:30p.m. *Easter Sunday Worship-Sunday April 1st @9:30a.m. Bob motioned to adjourn the meeting.
